Don't think it matters much with the color. The idiots that would shoot are the ones that take sound shots ( I thought I heard something) or sight shots ( I thought I saw something) .
<br>
<br>I had one guy aiming a rifle at me as I came around a bend becasue he thought the sound of the mule walking was and elk coming up the trail.
<br>
<br>My young mule is not quite a bucksin , but not quite a sorrel, so she's close also.
<br>
<br>Ther was a fellow down in New Mexico that ran a dude string out of Peco NM, up near Tererro and rented horses. Some hunter put a bullet through his leg, right into the heart of his horse back in the 60's.
<br>
<br>I guess you can't fix stupid, no matter what you do.

We have both but we don't hunt from either one. Earlier comment on stupid people taking sound shots & sight shots is the reason. For pure relaxation while riding, you can't beat the horse. I can take the horse many places that I wouldn't dream of taking the ATV. Although I wasn't too keen on them at 6:30 this morning as I strolled through a cold rain to feed. ATV was looking pretty good right then.

saddle, 'stalker, pump, 'skinner, Sweet Baby Jesus you guys are not kidding are you. Do you really have idiots out there that will shoot a horse for an elk? I have lost a couple or three calves over the years but I always thought it was done on purpose.

Boggy We sure do. It doesn't happen often , but occasionally. We lose about a dozen moose every year to people who mistake them for elk also

And thus there were 32 fewer #$%@&&$$# moose tags available the next year. When there is only about a hundred + or - permits to begin with .........

One feller showed up at a check station 7 or 8 years ago with a cow moose he shot. Only problem was thet it was really a big black mule some outfitter had lost the week before. Game warden tagged it and sent him on to the processing plant 'thout sayin' a word.

LMAO! I don't want to believe this story. Unfortunately, the older I get, the less amazed I am at how dumb some folks can be.
