A friend shot this buck and lost it. Making matters worse, it was jumped from it's bed shortly after bieng hit. Not knowing what happenned to a wounded deer is a terrible feeling and most of us have been there at least once. As coincidence often goes, this buck happened past my favorite stand several days later looking for love in all the wrong places. How cool is that?

If you look close you should see the neck wound. He was hit quartering on. The arrow did not hit spine, artery, windpipe, heart or lungs. This buck was basically the "buck of a lifetime" and I think he felt compelled to take the only best shot the buck was going to offer. He thought the arrow was going to hit heart/lungs but it didn't work out that way.

Look just below his left knee. The shot was not actually quite as high as it looks in the photo.
