Considering it is Veterans day weekend i find it funny something that was drilled in my brain years ago in the USAF I use once again in my every day life

Adapt and Overcome

3 simple words but a very important meaning.

I told my stomach doc to go to you know where 3 weeks ago and quit taking all the meds and I have had a 95% pain free 3 weeks but thursday I ate some of Katies chilli and I decided to lay off of yesterday eve as I wanted to have a great day in the woods.
well i woke up and was hurting bad hit the crapper 2x before i left the house and 1x when i got to the woods, i figure no point in a cover scent. Crawled up in the tree about 5:30 and at first light i was hurting again. well about 6:30 i see something off to my right...deer.... buck..... decent horns
he walks in front of me at 20 yds i take aim with the savage

CLICK

i was like what the heck opened the bolt.... no primer
insert various curse words
i started fumbling in my coat pocket he is walking into a thicket 15 yds he is gone
i noticed the more i fiddled the more he stopped and looked

finally got in pocket then i try to get in the baggie carrying ml bullets and primers i find one i ease it out swap to other hand thinking do not drop it i get it loaded and bolt closed
at this time he is nervous turns walks back to where he came from 32 yds 1/4 away bam he ran a bit father than i would like complete pass thru good blood trail and i got to head to the creek to take care of business
I can not eat chilli no more no ifs ands or buts

btw this is not the one i passed on hoping jason would get i was in another county

williamson co

10 point
dressed 130
savage ml 10-2
zeiss 3-9x40 tactical knobs
barnes expander 300 gn 68 gn h4198 2395 fps

I like to deer hunt and love to eat venison but I'd have quit hunting about 3 deer ago now if I were in your shoes. I have 7 tags for this season but will probably stop at 4 or 5. It's not that I'd have anything against shooting more than that {have done so in the past} but DAMN I'm sick and tired of cutting up deer after the first 3 or 4 !!!!

glad on ya for the kill

I hate when they are about that size. That's just right at my razor thin free-pass threshold.

they are the bucks I like to see on a property and then grit my teeth sometimes for letting them walk. then three days later you see it dead on the side of the road. lol

anyway

congrats

Congrats!

What are you doing with all that meat? You must have hundreds and hundreds of lbs worth.

i keep about 2 and a small one for my self
the rest go to either a poor Vietnamese family i know or a local church in nashville they grind them all up and make chilli or spaghetti and feed poor and homeless around Christmas time and if i kill upwards of 20 then a few go HFTH and co-workers

a lot of work gutting and dragging and like on this one i used the 4 wheeler but i find it rewarding to help the less fortunate

IMO with the deer herd in TN there shouldnt be one hungry person in this state

like i have said before i hunt in 7 different counties mutiple places in those counties so i am not wearing out one place

Hunting when you have the screaming willies can be a challenge.

Congrats for toughing it out and scoring a nice buck.

I can imagine that even gutting a deer while trying to hold in the turds can be even more difficult.

I'd rather have a bad day hunting than a good day working!

I hope this Vietnamese family you speak of.
Does not own a restaurant. If they do so you are contributing to
them.
Really think it is ridiculous to count post your kills.
That is just my opinion do as you wish.
Very nice little buck did have great potential.
Great genetics I hope he got to spread them.
Really do not see the point of you shot him thinking I may not have this property in two years. What was your point cause I can?
