I have never had issue until now.

Until I find something better, a generous spritz of WD-40 and a brass brush does pretty well, if a little messy. I do this in the garage.
(Then dry patches and Break Free for a protective coat.)

This stuff works. Brownell's Shotgun Wad Solvent Kinda nasty stuff, smells unpleasant and it'll mar plastic any drips fall on, including some floor coverings. But it works! Swab the barrel, wait a few minutes, and have at it with a good bronze brush and watch the plastic fly.

SeaFoam or Carberatour cleaner works for me, just use caution to keep it off the finish.

By far the greatest buildup in our club guns is at the back of the choke tubes, the transition isn't perfect. If it's bad enough scraping the big chunks out of the tube with a piece of brass and finishing with 00 steel wool is faster. Doesn't get that bad unless a bunch kids shoot a couple rounds (trap) each between cleanings.
The Brownell's stuff seems to work even better after a couple of uses. There's enough residual rust protection except maybe for seasonal storage when you wipe the bore dry. That thin film seems to discourage plastic from sticking fast to the barrel.

That stuff works great for taking powder fouling out, and is fantastic for wad plastic build up in my shotguns!:>) Cat

I use Ed's Red (you make it so google it) and Shooter's Choice Choke and Bore cleaner. I also use "Ed's Red". Chuck rod and brush in a drill, a few passes and plastics gone. For really stubborn build-up, a little fine steel wool added to the brush helps. I cut an old rod down to 4" for use on choke tubes.
