I've been thinking about doing some coyote hunting, something I've never tried before, but I have one question: What the heck do I do with it/them once I shoot them? I have no real interest in using their pelts for anything, so is it morally (not to mention legally) okay to just shoot them and leave them where they lay? (Okay, that was two questions.) Don't worry, this is not some veiled knock on varmint hunting, I just really would like to know. DAL

Coyotes are the devil. You get moral dispensation for killing them. Best to leave them where they fall, after shooting them again, as this is true recycling.

Learn about pelts, earn some pocket change. Give them to someone willing to do the above. Commission a fur coat for your wife. Start a skull collection. Sell the tails as dusters. Try to donate them to Feeding the Hungry. Let 'em lie.

Pretty good Rabbit. I'm in Pueblo, and i skin 'em, freeze 'em (these days), and sell them to a fur buyer in Canon City for about 10-15 apiece. It's hard for me to just let 'em lay, but to each his own. Should be a fur buyer/taxidermist in your area that'll buy them on the carcass too.

If you have ever taken a drive through West Texas you would know to use them as fence post decorations. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Get em' tanned and learn to make fur hats, they are gaining popularity again. I have one and it is the warmest thing I've ever worn!

We don't have much of a market for fur oout here in Commifornia, but a good dead dog is a gratifying thing to see. Hang 'em on the fence as a "you're welcome" to the rancher. He'll appreciate it.

I shot 14 a few years ago near the Texas/Oklahoma border on the Red River. I had a coyote coat made for the wife. Simply beautiful. Now I am working on a fox jacket. Use the pelts even if just tanned for rugs in your trophy room. I have about 10 assorted animal pelts/rugs in mine. Good hunting.
