I am shooting .225gr. Nosler and Speer bullets in my .35 Whelen, need a good load with RL-15. Suggestions/experiences with this powder/bullet combination?

Try the Nosler website because a few things have changed. In the Speer #13 manual they list a 220gr bullet #2439 using from 56gr to 60gr of R15.

Everybody reduced their Re15 loads several years ago. Apparently the formulation changed and retesting resulted in the reduction in the powder weights. My Whelen likes any bullet weight with almost any charge of Re15.

It's a very easy keeper.

My best 35 Whelen is 225 TSX and 60gr of R15. Runs around 2625 fps .5 MOA

I spoke to Alliant about that and they stated that RL15 had not changed but they get all their load data from Speer now. I asked the tech again about pressures,(Alliant used to list them), and he stated "We get all our data from Speer now". I am still useing data from the last Alliant manual with good results. Bear

As above, 60 grs of the powder behind the 225. I use the TSX. It goes a click over 2700 fps in my 22" barreled Ruger RS. Start at 56 grs or so and work up as usual.

I use 60.4 gr. of RL15 with the barnes 225 gr. TSX bullet for 2710 FPS from my custom Mauser with 24" barrel. Accuracy is superb and pressure signs are normal.
Currently I have three ne load work ups set to be tested with 225 gr. Bullets, the Nosler Accubond, Partition and some Ballistic Tips I found at a gun show.
That 225 gr. TSX BTW did one hell of a number on a cow elk in New Mexico in 2010. Never saw an animal hit the deck so fast in all my 50 plus years of hunting.
My Mauser is tied up at my gunsmiths to correct a magazine problem so I'll be using a Remington 700 Classic in .35 Whelen for my elk hunt this year. I like that cartridge. It flat out works..

I use 57.0 of RL15 under a 225 Accubond which runs 2660 out of my semi custom. Usually cuts a ragged hole at 100 yds. Works nicely on elk and black bears. Even Killed one of the bears at 350 yds.

my best group with my Rem. Classic 35 Whelen. Conditions were perfect that morning. Just shows what that gun is capable of.

All good loads with R-15. One of my favorite cartridges. Another vote though for 60+gr of R-15 and 225gr TSX. Good for anything in NA and most plains game as well.
