Was wondering if you guys are ready for PA season on monday and what rifle you'll be using? I'm either takin my Remington model 700 XCR II in 300 RUM or my new Remington model 700 mountain SS in 308 Win.

Heading to 3A with the Sako AV 25-06 or the Remington 700 CDL 243, both left handed of course. I'm going to hit the range this morning for a last zero check although I have no doubt in either 'stick.

Goin' to Sinnemahoning SP with my brothers and a nephew. I'll have a Savage 99 T 300SAv and a 99 F in 308, just in case. Be up on Ridge Road.

Saw a huge bull elk up there two years back. Magnificent!

My buddy's got a camp up by Sinnemahoning. 'Hunted spring turkey up there with him once, and ML too.

Used to hunt off of Montour road outside of Sinnamahoning. Ridge may hook up with it up on top if memory is working. Would drop down onto Cooks run. Nice big woods country.

Have six rifles ready to hunt and two weeks off. Life is good. Best leave ALL the shells in the truck or there could be problems. confused

We're staying at the SP cabin on Brooks Run Road. Brooks Run, a stream, out front, mountain behind, hopin' for a little snow and some deer. But mostly spending time with my brothers is what it is. Leaving tomorrow. I'm wound.

Nice. Shoot one on top and bring him down to camp. Beats hell out of the reverse.

Good luck, have fun and take it all in for when you need it.

This year I'm taking my Christensen in 300 Win Mag, only because I don't take it out much and a Sako Finnlight in 7-08.

My first year as a PA resident and haven't had much time to scout. Going to give it a try and maybe learn something for next year...if I still live here. I will be hunting public ground in the south central portion of the state.

If anyone has any tips on places to go or needs a hunting companion I would be glad to hear about it through a PM. As usual I will be hunting solo.

I will be using a 25-06.

Headed for 2E, my son has his Rem 700 in 30-06 dialed in and I've got a tang safety Ruger in 270, a Tikka T3 in 7mm-08, a Savage 99 in 358 all ready to go. There's a Win 94 in 32 Spl that ain't seen the woods in over 35 years that might go to. Decisions, Decisions...

Saw a couple of other posters headed for 2E. Care to be a bit more specific? I'll be near DuBois.

Dang, you PA guys are ruining the image that I had of you guys. I always thought that PA deer hunters were hardcore traditionalists. Guys who carried Marlin/Winchester 30-30's, Remington 760/7600's, and wore those plaid wool hunting coats. I guess everybody has gone hi-tech, and bought a magnum.

Doorgunner,

I own about a hundred guns and I'm proud to say not one of them is a magnum. I'll be using a 1940 Savage Model 99 "R" in 300 Savage. There are still a few of us tradionalists around.....We're the "old guys"....
