I have been watching for a good deal on a 336 35 Remington for a few years now. Missed a few good deals but I know they are out there. A few weeks ago I saw the 336D, and this is such a cool little rifle but the price is a bit ridiculous (1200.00 +/-) in my opinion. Have ya'll seen them cheaper? It sure would be a nice little brother to the 1895G.

I bought one about a year ago, older one, like new for $300. Just traded it off for a Savage 99. $1200?! That's over the top.

i've had one for about 5-6 years. paid $500. its one of my favorites. that guy on gunbroker with the $1200 one is nuts. its been on there for months and months. i have seen them for $600-$700. any i see for less than that will go in the safe for my kids. they are sweet. even better is the 336ss ltd. same gun but in stainless and real nice wood. it IS my favorite. paid $500 for it too last year at an LGS.

I will keep my eye out, I feel 600.00 is the high end for the gun, equal in value to an 1895G.

I picked up a 336d unfired a couple months back for $700. Sure feels nice...haven't got it to the range yet...but its not gonna stay unfired!

Have had several over the years and never paid more than $500 for one. I keep getting rid of them because I despise the useless ports. Marlin ported everything there for awhile in the late 90s and early 2000s. I was expecting to see a ported Model 60 or 39 back in that timeframe.

They only made 1000 of the 336D's for Davidson's back in 2000.I collect Marlins and hit every gun shop and gun show within a 100 miles every week, and I've only seen one. By the way, it's a few feet away from me as I type. True Marlin's are a bit inflated in price since Remington took over. I'd still buy every NIB one I could find for $800.

I owned one of those, and it was a joy to carry. I only shot it once without hearing protection though, even though it was at a deer. I rolled a doe with it, but when she got up and kept moving I couldn't bring myself to shoot again. The first shot hurt my ears too bad.
If they had only made that rifle without those ports.

Sounds like you sold it, if not let me know.
I am losing my hearing so I try to get ear plugs in before I shoot to minimize further damage, so a ported model is a non-issue. I also where ear plugs when I use loud tools and lawn equipment.

Its gonna bring more because they are less common than a 45/70 guide gun. I sold the last GG for 450. I see 444p's bring 600-650. A 35 rem in that configuration i could see bringing easily 600-700. 1200 is a bit optimistic but knowing how marlin nuts are, i you find a guy thats desperate for one, i could see it bringing close. Not saying i would...
Kinda like the 1894p's (short ported 44 mags), and the 1894cp (same but 357's). They bring a lot more

If you want a 336 carbine in .35 Rem, I would suggest looking for an older SC or SD in good shape. They appear from time to time on the auction sites and local shops. Here's an SD in .35 I bought off of Auction Arms a couple of years back for $300. They are a bit more now, but still within sane price ranges.

the price is a bit ridiculous (1200.00 +/-) I'd definitely say so. Heck you could probably find a 356 Win for that price......

I was hoping that they were going for $1200! I have one with a Wild West peep and maybe 5-10 rounds down the tube. Still looks like new. Bought it new years ago and it has just sat in the safe looking nice ever since.
