Seems It's pretty much as I thought with Premier Reticles! So I'm including berbatum word for word both my E-mail to Primere Reticles and their Reply! Phil __________________________________ Warranty is exactly the problem. Premier Reticles will support the warranty for the reticle only. But the scope has to be guaranteed by Leupold. Currently, Leupold will not commit to "supporting" Premier Reticles with parts and still maintaining the Leupold scope warranty. The real shame is that Premier Reticles has offered a custom service for the Leupold product without a commitment from Leupold. We cannot and will not warranty a product which we did not manufacture nor can we get replacement parts. Therefore, we are going a "route" that would make sense to most. You should direct your concerns to Leupold. Chris Thomas General Manager Premier Reticles, Ltd. 175 Commonwealth Ct. If you are no longer going to offer reticle changes to the Leupold line of scopes such as the German 4a. Are you still going to fully support the warrantee that you gave when I bought my last two scopes from you with this reticle? It's a real shame to see this company go this route. The Premiere/Leupold FX 111-6x42 matt with German 4a reticle is about the best scope on the market today! And my Premiere/Leupold M8 4x with the same German 4a is just pure fantastic. Phil _________________________________ Seems Leupold has gone Americana, next step I suppose will be parts from Iran! My next scope will be a Smidt & Bender, or a Swarovski. Only reason I've been buying Leupold the last few years was because of the availablility of getting a Premiere Reticle change. And yea I'm Pissed! Phil

Hi I am kinda confused did lupie sell the scope new with the reticle .or was it built than shipped out for the reticle. or was the reticle added by the customer. no flame intended I am interested in the set up. and would like to know of the procedure for getting one. if the reticle is an aftermarket add on item and sold by the reticle co I can understand leupoid's reluctance to warrenty it.. I need to know .. Thank's Hubert..

Hubert, a Premeir Reticle is an aftermarket reticle change strictly by the definition. Premiere and Leupold have been in a co-existance for many years. Premiere has been in business longer than Leupold has been in existance. It boils down to Leupold won't honor a warrentee on one of their scopes if some one other than Leupold does the work. But yet for all of these years they have taken advantage of the Premiere work, and only now are raising a stink! If Leupold offered the quality in reticles as those of Primere's I might be able to understand the reluctance. But not when they have gone hand-in-hand (so to speak) for so many years. My guess is that eventually Premier will find another manufacturer. For a company that did reticle work on the Norton bomb site during WW2, and are still in business, I think their reputation more than speaks for it self, and they wouldn't have any problems finding someone other than Leupold!

That would be a real shame if that is Leupold's version as well.
Definitely prefer the Premier over Leupold's version hands down. I wonder if Leupold is positioning to offer a 4a??
Leupold's German 4 is...a bit unique.
Will see...

It seems like it is time for a public relations/customer revolt blitz aimed at Leupold. I own a bunch of Leupold scopes, three or four with Premier reticles. Maybe a thousand emails, letters to the editor in the major shooting magazines, etc. will convince Leupold that ending what had been a great (from a customer point of view) partnership with a small US firm to provide aftermarket customization is a very bad idea. Seems like everyone loses.
(Although I would really like to hear Leupold's side of the story.)

Couple of years ago I bought a Leupold 6x42 from Rick. I asked and paid for a Post Duplex reticle and Rick sent it to Premier Reticle for the work. Premier sent it directly to me when they were done.
The Reticle was screwed up, the bottom post was crooked. Instead of sending it back to Premier I sent the scope to Leupold. No questions asked, Leupold fixed the scope, installed a new Post Dulplex reticle, no charge to me.
Thats why I will continue to buy Leupold.

Premier will soon stop offering work on Leopold. They are working together with S&B on a "large gov't contract" and will get out of Leupolds all together. Also, the lead man at Premier passed away recently, so change is in the works.
See what New England Firearms is selling regarding S&B and Premier, and you will see.

i think you will see more from leupolds custom shop, they already do reticle changes and similar work to premier, so they want to keep work inhouse and not accepting premiers work under warranty forces you to use thier custom shop if you want warranty

That's all fine and dandy, excpet when Leupold doesn't offer a reticle you want ... ie: the #4a ... The Leupold custom shop better start investing in a set of new reticles to add to the selection board ...

I have heard but might be wrong that Leupold is now doing the same work that premier was doing like adding lines or dots in your scope for bullet drop compensating calibrated for your guns velocity, Ballistic coefficient, altitude and such,
Leupold probably figured if they were warranting someone elses work they might as well get paid to do the job in the first place.
I know this is a real pain in the a$$ cause I was getting ready to send premier several scopes. Looks like I will have to check with Leupold on exactly want they are doing and offering.

Not that I disagree, but reticles are definitely a matter of taste, to most everyone ... and it IS a shame that Leupold doesn't yet offer some of the more popular Premier reticle designs ... Guess we'll have to wait and see

Some folks just don't like duplex. Kinda like folks who don't like the .30-06 or the .308, when either one (and/or the duplex) will do anything you ask of it for almost everything on the planet.
