The only problem with owning a Sako is it makes you want to buy more of them.

How are the Finnlite stocks? Are they a fiberglass type like the B&C found on the Extreme Weather? IMO they look like really cheap plastic stocks, maybe its just the gray grip areas that make me feel that way. Either way for $1,500 id be a hell of alot with a NIB Montana with a VX-3 2.5-8....mmm
One thing i do like about the Sako is it can be had in tge 260, something i wish Kimber still did.

I had a 75 Finnlite in 30-06. It shot all six factory loads I put through it under an inch with 5 shot groups.I wasn't thrilled with the 20" barrel, but none of the game I shot complained. The stock felt incredible when shouldered. I don't know what they are made of but it looked plastic. Nothing like the EW stock. I'm with you on the Kimber.

Have one in 270 Win. Has done everything expected of it when fed 130 gr Barnes Vor Tx loads...........

Simply a great stalking rifle.

Light, easy to carry all day.
Very accurate, hand loads under .5 moa , factory stuff under 1 moa
Love the 260, but the barrel should be another 2 inches longer.
Stock is plastic but doesn't feel cheap like some other plastics. I agree that it should be as good or better than a Montana for the price.

I have a couple of them. Makes a great mountain rifle. All metal with a build quality and function is like a Swiss watch. The "Soft Touch" stock on the newer models is nice but I needed a bit shorter length of pull so I have a McMillan stock on my 260. I shot two deer with it this week.

Had a sako 75 Finnlight 6.5x55,
It was stupid of me to get rid of it!
Accurate as all get out and a joy to carry!
Still have the MPI stock for it If one ever becomes available.
If you can swing one go for it. Probably the only other rifle's in the ball park or better would be a Sauer 202 or 90, & a cooper.
Next would be a full blown custom.
Just 2cents worth
(I can feel the flames with my comparison already)

I have one in 270Win. Shoots very well with many loads, 1" groups at 200 are common. It's not light, but it is lighter than other Sako models. The short bbl is quite handy, but not much for speed. Mine jams frequently, but other than that it's a pretty sweet rig. Don't hunt it much due to jamming.

Had a Sako 75 Finnlight in 7-08 with a Swaro AV. Bought the package used, but in like new condition. It shot Federal factory loaded Accubonds into .5" at 100 yards with regularity and with match quality custom loads, .25". Once, on a pig hunt, I worked the bolt and the magazine fell out. I sold the rifle after that.

Also had a Sako 75 stainless steel/composite with a Swaro Z6 in .300 WM. The rifle shot well, but had (IMO) excessive bolt wobble and gave me some failures to eject while on a safari in Zim. I put it aside and just shot everything with my .416 Rigby. Sold the 75 when I got home.

Supposedly, Sako has cured these issues with their Model 85, though I read a few complaints about ejection issues in this forum. The magazine and bolt have been redesigned. I recently saw one for sale with a 20" barrel in 9.3x62 and would have bought it if I didn't have two 9.3's already.

Sako's are accurate and well made. But for less money, you can buy a new Winchester Model 70. I would pick both up, check how each fits you, work the action, try the trigger, feel the weight and balance and choose the one that feels best to you. You won't go wrong with either a Finnlite Model 85 or a Winchester Model 70 (featherweight or standard).

I have two - a .243 & a 270. Both shoot 1/2"-5/8" groups with handloads. They'd be the last rifles I'd ever part with.

I have a 75 Finnlite in 6.5X55. It is very accurate and nice to carry. The factory stock works fine, but I'm not a big fan of the rubber inlays in the stock.

Have an 85 Finnlite in 270WSM & am very happy with it. No problems at all. It likes 130 gr. TSX's & RL17.
