That's alright, he'll make good jerky and sausage.

He was about 3/4 of a mile from where I found him last week and took pictures of him through my spotter. After a short stalk to an elevated vantage point, I set up prone and waited for the perfect shot. He was 470 yards and there was zero wind. When he turned broadside I aimed for his right front shoulder and fired. He went down in a heap. I saw something running between me and the buck and sure enough, two coyotes were headed out of the draw lined out in a straight line toward the buck. They stopped about 30 yards from the dead buck and I shot one right there. the other one ran to the right and when he topped the last hill, I fired and nailed him running right before he went out of view.....three shots fired in about ten seconds. It was good morning!! The .260 is shooting well!

Ancient old buck has got a little character. My biologist friend claims he is at least 8 1/2 years old.

Great old buck, not to many old warriors like that running around the country side. Good shooting with the 260

Yep, he looks like an old warrior. Nice double on the yotes, they aren't very big targets at that distance.

Great old buck, Pat! Well done--especially the follow-up shots.

I killed a very similar buck in Colorado about 12 years ago. He tasted great--but it was very early in the rut....

Sweet!
So is the 260 the winner of the 'shootout'?

nice work on the critters Pat--i think the 'ol swifto has been officially supplanted...!

funny how things go full circle--we whacked a few yip dogs with .270's back in the day, almost 40 years ago.

i saw that you called a couple times last week--i'll call back in a few days--i've got company here through part of next week, so no real free time for right now...

The right buck and 2 coyotes. Very well done.

It is hard not to like VLDs in the 6.5s. Simply work at a level others do not understand.

Again well done.
