Your last two pictures are identical. It doesn't look like an 1899 250-3000 to me. My opinion is that it's a 99G. The trigger on an 1899 250-3000 would be cross hatched instead of grooved and the stock would MOST LIKELY be a perch belly. And it's drilled and tapped. It probably wouldn't interest a collector of pristine Savage 99's. It would make a hunter/shooter happy as long as it wasn't priced as a collector. Your pictures would be better if taken in natural light.
As far as value. Research the auctions and look at "completed" auctions. Some say the market is down. Someone may see it and decide they have to have it. If I am wrong, someone will correct me in short order.

Alright, I will.
As I said, it's a 2nd variation 250-3000.
Yes it has the grooved vertical trigger, thats what showed me it was a 2nd variation. The 1st variation had the cross checkered trigger.
The first G to leave the factory was 236460 which I'm sure this gun has a serial number lower than that. Also he stated this gun was made in 1918-1919, the G was made in 1922.

If that rifle had a 1915 serial number what would the proper Model designation be? I've been calling mine a G but if what Joe say's is true (no reason to doubt) the first G's were built in 1922. Mine is all matching with a 1915 serial number in 250 Savage. Posting from work so I can't say what the trigger looks like.
POPGUN, your 1915 rifle that looks like that would be a model 250-3000. Looked just like a 99G with the early ones having a perchbelly stock and cross-hatched trigger. Later ones were identical to the 99G.
The OP's rifle looks like the lever is blued as well. As a hunting rifle, since it's a takedown in 250, I'd say $850 is at least a couple hundred too high - though that scope might be worth $75-$100.
“The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com
Thanks Calhoun. Mine does have the perchbelly stock although it has has been re-finished. I grabbed it up because the condition is excellent and 1915 makes it one of the very first 250-3000's made. I likely over paid for mine at eight hundred but the way I look at it is you would spend double to buy a newly built one today with far lesser quality.
Can anyone imagine what Savage would have to ask for a newly built 99 takedown made to the specs of one of these old gals?
