Just wondering how many of you have experence with NEF in particular, the 243. I have an Encore and can buy another barrel but was curious in the NEF. Thanks for your comments.

I have one in .223, made back when they used ejectors. Its a pretty good truck gun, useful for coyotes. The .243 should be fine. In a newer model with extractors there are probably no issues. In an older ejector rifle I would carry a rod to knock out stuck cases. Other than that they are okay. Mine is pretty accurate and I would expect the .243 to be okay as well. Easy to load, clean, and the weight is not too bad. I have a synthetic stock on the one I use and would recommend them over the wooden one but for no reason other than I like it better on this rifle.

Shoot great, sensitive about forearm pressure and bedding , little recoil , got dime size 5 shot groups at 100 yds off sand bags with Winchester 100 gr. factory loads , makes a great kids gun by adding an ATI colapseable stock ( FORGIVE MY SPELLING ), nephew took his first buck with one this year. Big plus is you can buy whole gun for the price of a barrel good luck jrh55

I Had a NEF 22-250 couple of years ago. It shot 1 1/4 " three shot groups. Good barn or truck gun.

I have a NEF Handi Rifle. One thing about the NEF barrels is they sure can use some TLC. For every penny a company puts into a gun thay have to charge six cents more. That said every NEF barrel I have has been cleaned and polished when I get it. All mine shoot MOA. The 243 superlite barrels can be hit or miss from what I've heard. The trigger on a NEF can also be a bit mushy and heavy but it can be stone and made very nice.

Mine has added a lot of options to my battery. .223, .243, .270,.25-06, 410/45LC, 12 guage rifled, 50 ML, 12 guage smooth bore with red dot scope (Turkey) 12, 20 and 410 guage.

The barrels cost 1/3 of Contender or Encore
