I'm looking for opinions on the PTG aluminum bdl bottom metal, curious how much of an upgrade it is from the factory rem 700 bdl bottom metal. Working on a lightweight rifle so I'm not really looking at the steel ones. Thanks.

I have a couple of the Oberndorf PTG in aluminum on a couple short action rifles and really like them, night and day difference from the factory stuff. Not less weight though but much more stout for sure.

I have a buddy who put one on his first custom and they seem very well made... they have to be better than the factory pot metal!

I've used the PT&G bottom metal on a couple of rigs now and really like it. Good quality and fits really well.

It's better built and better finished. For a $100 its a reasonable upgrade, but the factory stuff functions just as well.....

Is any inletting needed to make the PTG work? Or does it bolt right up to a factory stock?

if you need a short action remington PTG bottom metal I have an extra laying around I would sell. its uncoated just as it came from PT&G. I ended up changing the gun over to an HS mag setup to help with better feeding.

CC - I'm interested. Is it aluminum or steel? Do you know if it fits the factory inlet?

The PT&G fits a factory inlet.
