That is my experience as well. 2.965 with the 162 Amax in my .284 Win.

In my 6.5x284 I load the 140 VLDs to 3.085" which gives me .027" jump. With 140 Aaccubonds I load to 2.970" which is about .030" jump to the lands. Gun has a long action.

3.10 seems long for a loaded round in a Wyatts box, mine was 2.995 inside and I always loaded to 2.950 to make them feed reliably, maybe that was part of your feeding issues!

I probably wrong on that number. I have all my notes packed, ready for a move to AZ. I was trying to go off a faulty memory obviously.

I get a consistent 3,000 fps with good S.D.'s in my 6.5-284 with 140 VLD's using 48.8 gr. RL-17. I can get to 3,100 fps with 50 gr. but accuracy suffers. A half inch gun goes over an inch at a hundred. So, 3,000 fps with 48.8 gr. is where it is for my rig.

I got one of the limited run T/C Ventures in 6.5x284 Norma and I'm thinking of trying some 100gr TTSX over Hybrid 100V. Manuals claim 3400fps with that powder under a 100gr bullet. It should do quite well on whitetails out at LONG range. I believe it has a MPBR of around 330+ yds.

I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.

I've tried the Hybrid100V in the Creedmoor. The hodgdon site shows outstanding velocity; the best by far of any powder. The velocity claims are fibs.
Blew a primer with no previous shot pressure signs at 41 grains. Chrono'd the highest charge at 2700.

Maybe it will work in the 6.5-284 but I doubt it

142 SMK's are 3.190" in around 25-30 thou.

140 VLD's are 3.155" in around 25-30 thou.

Reamer has .188" freebore.

Creedmoor might need a little faster powder can't say, but I have been able to easily attain their listed max velocities in my 23" barreled 284 win.
