Excellent pre-emptive strike. Win and it is that much greater of an accomplishment. Lose and the excuse has already had its groudwork laid.

Just this afternoon we were discussing how many big-time players have no real understanding of the game (or its rules).

you can already hear the Georgia fans whine about their going to the Chick-fil-a bowl, while Florida goes to the Sugar.

You work all season to get into the SEC Championship and screw yourself out of a chance to win by making a pee wee league mistake.

The Chick-filet Bowl sounds about right.

I watched the second half , completely indifferent as to the outcome. It was an interesting game for sure.

'Bama seemed intent on playing a zone defense without having the discipline to make it work. Of course, more pressure on the QB would have helped.

Does N D have a good defensive line? When you rack up 400+ yards rushing and are in danger of losing at the end of the game....... Well, I'll just say it's strange and leave it at that.

Everyone but Florida and whoever wins the SEC championship are going to eat a schit sandwhich this year when it comes to the bowls.

If GA loses this game they are really going to take it bad.

The only upside to beating Texas in the cotton bowl it will mean in less than a 12 month span LSU can beat Texas, Texas A&M (already done) and TCU (who we paly next year).

And Kansas State can beat Texas. I was surprized really to learn Texas hssnt beaten K State in Manhatten since 2002. That's the last five games there over a 10 year period. You really have to love what Coach Bill Snyder has done with K State. They are the real deal.

The top SEC teams play big boy football. They also understand that great defense doesn't equate to playing grabazzz like 95% of college football teams play nowadays. As Danielson said, it was a "viscious" game.

As for U of TX, with the talent they have and get every year, they are probably the most underachieving team in college football.

Answer:

Quality opponent
Field goal blocked returned for touchdown (10 point swing)
Interception in endzone
Thats 17 points in two plays.

Actually UGA will wind up in the Cotton against Texas which is a complete joke. UT will likley barely be in the top 20 after their loss last night.

Another joke - LSU will wind up in the outback against Nebraska. A team that will be outside the top 25.

UF will end up in the Sugar bowl.

All teams that would be in a BCS bowl if not for the 2 team limit per conference.

It's a good rule, too. It keeps the rich from getting richer and lets other teams, who work just as hard and play just as hard, get into bowl games. Their conferences get scholarship money, just like the "big boys".

So socialism in the country isn't enough now we have to have it in college football as well?

The SEC didn't come off the mountain with 6 top teams and a pocket full of cash. They earned it and built their programs around getting better top down and making money.

Who wants to see multiple bowl games of teams ranked in the top 5 against teams that are unranked?

A bowl game is supposed to a reward. A reward for a team in the SEC who finishes in the top 5 is top play a top 10 or top 15 team. Playing a team that is unranked should be unacceptable to any team regardless of conference in a new years day bowl game.

If it's such a great rule and is going to help other conferences how come the further we get along in the BCS era the more SEC teams wind up at the top and near the top? It's because some of the teams in some of the other conferences who do get BCS bowls don't do jack schit with their money.

In fact the Big East LOST MONEY 2 years ago when they got a BCS bowl invite because they couldn't even sell their own tickets at face value as required by the BCS and had to pay for it out of their own AD budget. In fact the Big East has done nothing but suck more and more while sucking up BCS money because multiple teams from multiple other conferences are locked out.

If it was so great to restrict the number of teams from one conference you would think over a span of 14 years now that some of the other conferences would really start picking it up, they haven't.

Because of the rule you are going to have a teamt hat was :04 seconds away from playing for a national championship playing against a team with 4 loses that is likely to fire their coach and will be ranked around 20-22 when the polls come out today. Who wants to watch that? You get better games than that week in and week out.

Awww bite me! smirk

It is just like the professional draft. The teams that did bad get first picks. It works toward a bit of parity and makes the game...yes G A M E ...better for all colleges. The SEC seems to have some sort of special "worthiness" complex.

Except down south, we don't really give a fugg.

Still, it's just a game. wink

Stay classy. So when faced with facts your comeback is a personal attack? Nice.

It's not going to be a better game. Look for a lot of bowls this year to have really low ratings. We're talking games that wouldn't be the highlight of the second week of the season in what is supposed to be a top tier bowl game.

It doesn't matter which conference. If the PAC-10 had 6 teams in the top 10 I would like to see those teams play teams that are at least ranked, preferably in the top 15.
