Well, found a 99M .243 on Thursday and could not pass her up. Nice wood, no cracks, and blueing is about 95%. Price seemed too good, hope I didn't screw up. Paid $350, but there is one issue. The lever screw and bushing are missing and they put a bolt & nut in it's place. Looks awful. Anyone know where I can purchase one? Serial #11031xx, can you tell me how old. Can't wait to get out for a range session.

Should be able to find a replacement, and for that price you did well. It is actually a model 99DL, the 99M stamp is just to mislead you. grin

We think the M stands for Monte Carlo stock, but they were catalogued as 99DL ("D"e"L"uxe).

Numrichs has the bushing, but not the screw, it's a start.

I've found DLs to be great shooters, good buy for sure. Cut or pressed checkering, sn pretty near the switch over

DLs were supposed to have factory improved triggers. I've only owned one and it did have a decent trigger. Anyone else have experience with that?

Thanks for the info. The trigger is ok, checkering is pressed. Just ordered the screw and bushing from "Wisner's". Had em in stock (reproduction I think). Hope to have it together by end of next wk. Maybe I can figure out how to post a pic by then.

The one DL I had trigger was good. Little heavy but none of that awful creep and travel that some 99 triggers have.

I have found the triggers of 99's to be very variable. Some that I have had were just god awful. On the other hand I have a pre mil F in 308 that is just about as good as any bolt gun I have ever owned. Every one is different and you just don't know what you are going to get from gun to gun until you pull the trigger.

Fred Moreo should design an accutrigger for the 99's, he'd make a killing.

The one I have in .308 is the best trigger on any of my 99's but, the 1953 R is running a very close second.

Notch the sling, granted I've only kept count since Nov 1 2011. Safe to say there's half a gross to add to that. Can't ever get rid of em, a sow will have 2 litters of 8 a year, sometimes 3. If ya have just 4 sows on ur place, well, u do the math
