Chad did do the plumbing, and I figure the 105s should be around 3300 or so. Im using RE17, so......more power, ohohohohohohoh!!

F-class at Lodi and local 600yd BR comps 3 times a year.

Ill find out in May when our range opens up again, if these 105 Hornadys dont shoot, perhaps the 105 Hybrids & VLDs do.

About how much RE17 you stuffing in there? I've missed all the LR matches at Lodi last year but hope to make them in the spring. I usually shoot a .308 in Palma class, but might give the 240 NMC a try with 115's this year.

The loads I worked up are from 41-43grs RE17. Who knows, it might take more than that, yet. German Salazar & Bob Jensen tested the powder in the 6XC, they got 3313fps with 41.8grs(Moly)

Interesting, thanks for the link. The 240NMC holds about half a grain more than the 6xc so it is essentially the same. I will have to give R17 a try this year with the 115's and 108's. I wouldn't mind some additional velocity if the SD's are good.

I think youll like what RE17 will do for your rifle. How long did Randy make the neck on that 240NMC, btw? I usually like longer necks, one of the reasons I got a 6mmREM, but it seems to work for Tubb. The 6Creed and XC seem to have very similar necks from what I can see. And holy [bleep] is it easy to fireform "250" brass to make 6 Creed brass. 30.5grs RE15 with a 105HPBT did the trick.

I'll have to look at your pics tonight, can't see them from work. I don't have the print in front of me but the major difference between the .240NMC and 6XC that I remember are the 240 shoulder datum is about .050" further out and it keeps the parent brass' 28 degree shoulder vs the 30 on the XC. For some reason I was thinking Creedmore was a all new case with more volume than the 250.

Yeah, the Creedmoor holds 5grs more of RE17(up to the neck), but once you fireform the 250 brass its almost identical from my findings yesterday morning. To my understanding the 6.5 creed is basically a 250 case blown out to creedmoor specs with the 30 degree shoulder, and longer OAL, 6 creed is 1.917", 250 is 1.902".

I run a 243 ai which has more horsepower than either the XC or the creedmoor, now granted mine is a 24" barrel not a 28. I can't run anywhere near 3300 fps or even 3200 for that matter. I can run 3200 fps but the primer pockets loosen after 2 loadings. I have to back my load off to about 3115fps to get pressures that my lapua brass can live with.

the other thing is I found RL 17 to be a very edgy powder and somewhat temp sensitive. a lot that shot 3/4" at 200 yards turned into 5.5" of vertical spread at just over 500 yards. I can't recommend RL 17 in most applications. I have had much better luck with h4831 sc and for a case slightly smaller than the 243 ai it would likely be a good one to try. YMMV

Ive noticed in other applications that RE17 doesnt like the hottest load, my 6mmREM likes 41grs with the 105s, 44 being he max,(Speer 100grain) had a 2.5" vertical dispersion @600yds and a total group size of 3.5", tried RE17 in my 39-06 as well, 53.5grs shot very well out to 300yds,(tab over and inch) 54 opened up higher and to the left. Not sure about temp sensitivity, never shot it in temps over 85. German and Bob were shooting in temps about 100, so........they didnt mention anything about temp sensitivity.

NOTE: Ambient air temperature during all our tests was about 100� F. Keep that in mind when looking at the load tables.

That is one sweet rig.... that 6 CM is a great round !


RL17 is great powder if you shoot in the same conditions...

You are not gonna be happy with it if you start shooting year around.

Test loads in summer and shooting here in winter, I saw over 250 fps second swings !

I think ScenarShooter saw even more with RL17 in northern Montana.

H4350 does incredible in my 6mm Crusader, only lost 55 fps and gained incredible temp stability. 105's at 3301 here in the 307.
