Nope, but you can bet the way we've been used to living for the last 3-4 decades is very soon coming to an end, and in many ways is already at an end. Its been called a recession, but its just reality setting in. Doesn't matter if you're average joe or the united states govt. if we collectively spend more than we make then the piper is going to come calling.

Forget Dec. 21 and Chalam Balams prediction . Here's one that might capture your immagination : On Friday April 13 , 2029 ( yep Friday the 13 th ) the Asteroid 99942 Apophis will pass within 20,000 Miles of Earth . Actually , the last Calculations I saw were 18,300 Miles . That's a tad close if you ask me , and I don't think that an Aluminized Room is gonna provide adequate protection . PS , if the Calculations are a bit off , and Apophis collides , the force will be greater than Earths total Nuclear Arsenal . Now that is something to really worry about !

Dec 21 is a pile of crap. However, Y2K was nothing only because millions of programers spent years preventing it. The 'nothing' outcome was a real tribute to the people who spent so much time fixing the problems before they happened.
My brother was a systems programmer for a major bank at that time. He told me about what all they had to do and what would have happened if they hadn't done it. It would have been a real mess.

According to my 9 year old, without the addition of leap year, post Mayan calender, it's actually sometime in September of 2013.......don't blow your retirement just yet. I was really worried.
