Sweet revolver. I'd be curious as to the recoil difference between the 45 and the 454, for "shootability"

I'll be checking that myself. My 45 colt hot loads are not at the recoil level of the 454 but they are still pretty stout.

In my brothers Raging Bull the 45 Colt recoils less than my 357 Blackhawk, with factory 454 loads it's the only hand gun I've ever shot that stings my hand! it is STOUT! grin

Try a S&W 500 Magnum

I dont find the .454 enjoyable at all to shoot. Still, he does have a rather nice revolver there.

Except for the front sight I had the exact same gun right down to the black Micarta grips except mine was not Mag-Na-Ported...I wish it had been..

I just found the .454 a little much in the way of recoil and when I found an identical .41 Magnum bought it and sold the .454/.45 Colt as I was never much of a .45 caliber guy.

That said I just bought one just like this in .475....

The .454 was one of the most accurate rounds I have ever shot...but just could not shoot too many in an afternoon...

Congrats. It looks very nice. I've only had one 454 and I got rid of it very quickly. It just was not enjoyable to shoot. Painful even.

Sombody told me that a 454 cylinder cold fire a 45 colt without a problem. Is that not true?

Freedom says not to because the gun is so tight. Firing the 45 colt and not cleaning it could lead to bad things if it left a fouling ring in the cylinder. I'm sure if you cleaned it properly in between calibers, it would be fine. Works in other guns. I'll listen to the manufacture on this one though. Too much money wrapped up in these things.

I've always thought a modern .45 LC with modern brass could be loaded way up there.
Looks like a great silhouette shooter!

It can. In a 5 shot, you can approach 454 loads. No need to though.

The recommended practice with a FA is to use 454 brass loaded to 45 LC specs.

Why pay for a gun you can't shoot to its true potential?

Love my 460 XVR.
