Just got one of these in FS CZ. How many inches high at 100 yds to be on at 200 using 286 S&B cartridges with scope. Can not find table on 9.3. Tried doing calculations and come up with 5 inches. Must be using wrong BC. Thanks.

Assuming that the factory listed fo 2280 fps is close, and I'll use 2250 for the calculations, a 200 yard zero ought to put the S&B SPRN 3.71" high at 100 yards, and 6" low at 250.

Here's the ballistics calculator: http://www.handloads.com/calc/index.html

What BC and muzzle velocity are you using?

Looking at my tables, a Nosler 286 grain Partition starting out at 2350-2400 fps will need to be around 3" high at 100 yards to be on at 200. Nosler lists a BC of .482 for this bullet, which is pretty good and may not represent the S&B offering very well.

If the BC is more like a 300 grain round nose from a 375, on the order of .275, then you'll need to be closer to 3.5-3.6" high at 100 to be on at 200.

FWIW, the BC, IIRC, on the S&B round is about .300-.305

2 inches high at 100 yards and hold dead on at everything from 25 to 200.
You are unlikely to be shooting beyond 200 yards.

VAnimrod,

You're quicker on the draw than me. I just looked at the S&B website, and they claim 7" drop at 200 yards from a 100 yard zero, with a muzzle velocity right at 2300 fps. Reverse engineering my drop table tells me the BC should be .300.
