I think my K&P barrel is 1 in 6 .17 Rem. But i've never shot it. About the time i had it built i decided to go completely to handguns, and been with them ever since.
I'll sell it if you're interested.

Bulletsmith I have 6 twist Lilja 17PPC barrel 26" long in need of a bullet that can withstand high RPM. The Berger 37 Grain VLD's come apart way to easily.

It has a 27" 1.350" fluted Lilja attached to a RBLP Viper and it has a green Shehane tracker stock in McMillan fglass. The case is a full length 17ppc and it will push the 37's to 3900fps easy. The only problem is that I have to patch a drop of colloidal graphite down the bore for each shot or else poof another grey streak goes down range. TTFN Matt

Wow-- sounds like a COOL writeup for Varmint Hunter or PS magazines. 17's have been lacking in PS since Todd Kindler started SCN. Plus PS pays for ALL articles. Be neat to read about it.
Hey 17 VLD-- just saw you're from Colo.-- whereabouts?? I'm down in Pueblo.

Your right SS, I miss those early years when Todd wrote about the 17Mach1V in PS.Thats what got me started with the 17Mach1V. Some day I'd love to write an article about my trials with the 17PPC.These new bullets just might be the catalyst for just such an article. I'm in Castle Rock.I go to Raton once in a while, some day we should meet at Cracker Barrel(Pueblo) for lunch. TTFN Matt

santa was here today!!!!! Well actually it was the ups driver with the 17 dies.I didn't have any lead extruded as I needed to know a inside diameter on these heavy jackets, but I scrounged arong and found a short peice.I hammered 5 bullets out. With a lead tip they will weigh 46.5 grns, with a tight meplat hp it looks like 45 grns right on.The finished bullet is .975" long. That is one long 17 bullet!!!! As soon as I get lead made up,production will begin!!!!! thanks for all the reply's,for the people that are interested in trying these please send a email to wildcatbullets @hotmail.com with your name and address Bulletsmith

Hooray for Santa!!
It is 9 years since I started looking for someone to build some heavy 17"s. However, after some initial coaxing about 18 moths ago, you have delivered once again, as you did last year with the 100 grain .224's. Richard you are a champion.
A .975 inch 45 grain bullet must look like an overgrown gramaphone needle, and it will dwarf the 37 grain Berger VLD (.855).
I just looked up my records and the 45 grain Wildcat is about .055 longer than the 69 grain Sierra MK (.920) and about .025 longer than the 70 grain Berger VLD (.950).
I now agree with your initial recommendation, that a 1 in 6 twist barrel will be needed. I will definitely now order a 1 in 6 Krieger to tame "this baby"!. Regards, Brian.
