Yep...S&B 10X PMII.

It's an excellant scope. The glass is superb and the click adjustments are absolutely repeatable.

I'd always shot 6X fixed power scopes on my hunting rifles prior to getting the Schmidt. I have a 6X42 with CDS that can shoot long but this scope takes it out to another level.

The move up in magnification would only be detrimental (in my opinion) if you were into jumpshooting deer in brushy bottomland, or standhunting in the Deep South where a "long" shot is 50 yards. Niether of which I do.

For most all the Western hunting I've done, 10X was never too much scope.

Mark,

I imagine you're right about the weight. I'll get the scale out later on and see. It doesn't feel heavy though, and I think you'd like the way it balances with the EDGE stock. For the kind of accuracy it can deliver at longer ranges, most of the other rifles that can compete with it are heavy barreled "sniper" rigs that weigh twice as much all up.....

If I make it up to SW MT this spring I'll bring it by (if you're not too busy selling casas).....

OSD-thx for the input, I'd love to shoot that rig. What's the scope weigh? And your stock is Edge fill correct?

Thx

Dober-
For comparison, my GAP 308 weighs right at 8 1/4lbs as she sits. I used the alloy Badger M4 bottom metal and of course the Leupold that is lighter than the S&B's. About to switch to a 3.5-10 with M1 and figure she will be just under 8lbs.

Mark,

The scope weighs 21 oz...add a couple more with the Talleys.

The stock is Edge fill and makes it balance just in front of the mag well. Perfect for carrying.

I've noticed the weights are all a little bit different. When I compared my NT to Pat's, at Icebreaker, mine had a slightly thicker tube at the same contour and weighed a few onces more- not that that made any difference whatsoever. It's the equivilent of a few cartridges.

Bottom line is it can comfortably be carried practically anywhere you are likely to be needing it and shoot as far and as well as you can. Actually mine can shoot further than I can- but I'm still learning.

Is GAP full-length bedding or free-floating the Non-typical?

About an inch of the barrel shank is bedded, the rest free floated.

where the bedding comes up to the edges at the top of the stock do they paint that to match the stock?? I have seen this even match camo the stock is finished in. to me that is the coolest part of the bedding is getting the bedding compound that you can see on the very edge to match the stock.

Given their long range accuracy and how well built they are I am surprised that some of the military sniper programs haven't went to a Non-Typical.

It would seem to me that such a finely put together 8 to 10 lb all up rifle would make more sense for field use than the 12+ pound rigs that are now fielded.
