I have an opportunity to pick up a NIB T-3 blued 25-06 for $475 which seems to me a pretty good price? I have a couple of Pre Garcia Sakos and am not very familiar with the Tikkas. I intend to use it for 'yotes and and basically a knock around truck rifle, What I'd like to know from you folks that are runnin' them is how do you like them and have any of you had any trouble finding very accurate loads for your 25/06? on this platform? personally, I'd prefer a longer barrel for this cartridge so your experiences and thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance, BD

That's an awesome price. Get it. Their reputation is well deserved. Mine's a .30-06, but everything I've run through it has shot accurately.
You may want to change the rings out as the OEM rings are a little cheezy. I swapped mine out for a set of Warnes since they clamp directly to the receiver like the OEM rings do. A lot of folks go with Talleys. Either will work well.

I'd buy it at that price. I have a pair of T3's and have sold a couple more I had. They have all been consistently accurate with a variety of factory and handloaded ammo. You shouldn't have any trouble finding an accurate load for yours.
I share your desire for a longer barrel on a 25-06 but the coyote won't know the difference when you put an 87gr soft point of some kind into him....
Regards,
Tom

I'd definitely be looking to buy it at that price. Like Steve said, I'd be looking to change out the rings, but other than that, load 50 rounds and go around snuffing creatures with it.

Great deal. Really great shooting factory rifles. I have seen and shot some, even the light weights shoot like custom rigs.

I've got the same gun in the same caliber except that mine's a stainless. Try the Fusion ammo.....shoots .5" groups out of mine and hits HARD!

Be careful..... if you buy that thing, your older Sakos might start getting lonely.... (and I love older sakos)

I have a T3 in 7-08, blue metal w/ synthetic stock. Hunted the first year with it killed a nice 9pt. Didn't care for the long barrel on it so I had it cut back to 18 1/2". Alot easier getting in and out of the UTV and using it in the blind. Use 140 gr RPSPCL or BT's (handloads) and never will go back to the 308's. If not in the blind with the T3 it's my Savage 99 in 250.

I don't know if anyone else would agree with me...but buy that gun. I have two that are great shooters. 223 Rem and 243 Win. Both easily sub moa guns and pretty light.
I haven't had any issues with the rings but were I to get a bigger caliber, I'd be inclined to get some Talleys.

Thanks for all the responses everyone, I apologize for responding so late. In regards to my OP, I might be over thinking the barrel length question. When I think about cartridges like the 25-06 I start thinking about a longer barrel to efficiently burn some powders to wring out the best performance from this cartridge. Maybe I'm all wet because my personal experience with this cartridge, much less the rifle, wouldn't fill a thimble so all of your thoughts , opinions and experiences are much appreciated

It's just me, but that 1.5" of barrel that's missing may move the arbitrary effective range of the .25-06 up 25 yards, maybe 50. The difference is negligible and I'd wager that its impossible to tell the difference on game at 375 vs 325. I doubt it would bust your hunt. The way I rationalize it is that if the gun I'm shooting will work at 325 but not 375 then it's probably pretty marginal at 325 so I probably shouldn't be shooting it anyways at 325.

BUY IT! Rem, I see over your way they can be had for around $400 or so - on our shores, just recently the price of a T3 lite blued went from $1100 down to $825 ...why?? We used to get fleeced (and still do) by a big importer who still imports the Tikka and Sako rifles.. But now, another dealer with backing from cabelas in the USA has started to import rifles , cutting out the Australian importer ... and thus was offering rifles at $300 less than what teh "big B" was. I probably will go for the T3 Lite in the blued finish just as a back up gun - cheap as hell to shoot and ultra reliable. Gus
