Where do you LR shooters have your triggers set? I have hunted in temperatures down to below zero but I have less enthusiasim for the cold than I used to. I have my triggers set at 2.75-3 lbs to operate safely, for me, in those conditions.

How about length of pull? Because I hunt in cold weather and usually have a pack on I run my stocks a little shorter than my height and reach would indicate. From the photos posted Lot of you guys shoot from prone off of bipods. Do you spec your LR rigs for that position?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I always set all my triggers for 2.5 lbs. That way, I don't have to mentally calculate what rifle I'm shooting when I'm behind the butt.

I may be the odd man out, setting my LOP about 14". I'm a skootch under 6' tall. I then float my scope back a bit in the rings so I don't have to pull the rifle in tight. When shooting LR, I shoot mostly from prone and that's where I'll get hit with the scope if I'm not careful, thus the longer LOP.

My trigger is set at about 2 lbs, maybe a mite over.

LOP is a little shorter than normal on mine as well, for a few reasons

Thanks for the input! I am mulling over getting a new Mcm stock before the prices go up and I am trying to figure out the specs and the model. I will probably stick with 13.25" LOP

I am waiting for my rifle. The trigger, like the rest of my rifles, will have a 25 ounce trigger. Length of pull will be measured when it gets here.

I have them fitted / measured for the conditions. My warm weather G-hog rifle has a fixed pad because I only shoot it in warm weather without bulky cloathes and it runs an 8 oz trigger not something you want in cold weather.

My other riles have spacer systems so I can add in warm or take off in cold with heavy clothing.

One huting rifle has a fixed pad and I shoot it all year round so I had it fitted for sweatshit / jacked and just deal with it being on the long sided in very cold. I like 2-2.5# on a hunting rifle, personal prefernce and I dont mind lighter and can also deal with a little heavier.

I set my triggers at 1-1/2#. It seems heavy at the bench, but just right in field conditions.

13-1/2" for heavy clothes is about right, 14" LOP for warm weather/shirt and jacket conditions. All the rest I build from here on out will have 14" LOP. I'm 5' 10" with long arms.

All of my triggers are Jewell and set at 2lbs. LOP is 13.5", as I'm 5'10" with 34/35' shirt sleeve and it's never that cold here in OR where I hunt. The Sitka gear I wear isn't very thick or heavy. More importantly I have set the overtravel on the triggers to the maximum distance. I picked up the idea from Darrel Holand's article at LongRangeHunting.com. We noticed an immediate improvement in group size in our higher recoiling rifles.
