Looking for some advice from knowledgable people. I am looking for a 22 on a 1911 platform for my 13 y/o old son. I would prefer the controls be as close as possible to the orginal 1911 and fairly affordable.
Thanks

GSG/SIG: made in Germany alloy construction 1911 parts fit, ambi safety ,not the greatest design but I like mine. The sights are plastic but can be replaced with whatever fits in the dovetails.
Colt's :I think it's called "22 Gold Cup",It looks nice probably more accurate/more expensive.
Chiappa :cheapest of the bunch not nice to look at

Browning makes a really neat little one that has the same functions as a normal 1911 but is scaled down just a little.

I have the Kimber conversion on a Kimber frame, swapping it out for the .45 upper when I want to shoot that. it's very accurate, but very ammo sensitive. You need high velocity, and plated bullets are preferred. All the controls are in he right place, and it's light enough for a kid to shoot. My 10 year old likes it a lot.

So I went to my local Cabelas last night. I should have know better. I went straight to the gun counter to get a number. I was number 49. Lets see what number they are serving. Number 6. Stood around awhile to see how fast they were helping people and did the math. Cabelas will be closed before they get to me. Guns were flying out of there.
Anyway, I did look at the guns through the display window. They have a Sig and a Colt for the same price. I will go back Monday during the day to handle both and make my decision. Right now I am leaning towards the Colt.
Thanks for the replies.

The Marvel 22 conversion is the best of them all if you can find one
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

Thanks Not sure how affordable they are, but an old Bud of mine has some Colt Ace's, look like a 45, but they are a factory built 22. Gunner
