so $250 is probably about what its worth? not that it really matters, for about that much ill purhse most any rifle that catches my eye and its in about the range that the wife doesnt scream and will fairly willingly hand over the credit card

rattler;
As I said elsewhere, if you put that on one of the on-line auction sites, you could probably at least double your money... if not considerably more.

Geeez, I've been wandering all over the DFW metromess trying to find good, bad, ugly, misused, abused, safe-queen 99's and there are, so far, zero to be found. What parts of the US were these popular in?? Maybe the NE and NW? If so, why??

this is the third one ive found in pawn shops around here, of which i purchased 2, the 3rd was a take down in quite rough shape chambered in 250-3000 that i passed on. have yet to see one in a regular gun shop. i see atleast 20 in various grades at gunshows in the general area as there are a couple collectors i believe but most are priced at higher than i care to pay.

Don't worry Tex, FL is pretty dried up too. Keep turning over stones and one will pop up.

Ain't that the truth. I was in Ft Walton a few weeks ago and stopped at 3 pawn shops and none of them even sold guns! The others didn't know Savage made lever actions

You ought to try finding some in east central Illinois. ZIP. I've bought 4, 99's in the past two years and everyone I bought out of state.

Pacecars, I missed the show in Lakeland last weekend. Two years ago we found over 20 99s there. IIt has been rumored there are a couple 99s in upstate NY. All rumors.

hey guys, im doing some insurance stuff this weekend and was wondering what i should put this down as being worth. would $500 be about right or should it be listed as a lil higher. other than a light scratch on the action and wear around the muzzel and reciever end of the barrel the blueing is darn good. the stock is cracked pretty good and im not 100% sure the fore end is original thoug if it isnt its been fitted by someone who knows what they are doing, the finish is different between the two piecies of the stocks.
if yah guys need more pics i can taske them tonight.

Rattler, just check to make sure the numbers on the foreend match the numbers on the buttstock and buttplate. Other than that you should be good. Les

Strong possibility, but I doubt it, look at the checkering, see if it still has nice points on it, if it does, it hasn't been refinished, if it looks worn down it probably was. Les
