The former owner/publisher of our local rag did something like that. He is a very wealthy and influential former NBC executive for whom this small midwestern newspaper was a hobby and bully pulpit. He was and is virulently anti-gun and Second Amendment. At one time he obtained and published a list of CW permit holders in this county. His argument was that people have a right to know who has the guns.
Arrogance personified. No further comment necessary.

If the list of private gun owners becomes public knowledge it can only have happened because government had that knowledge.
The patriotic, freedom loving, conservative minded people who fought legislation from serial numbers to paper work all the way to permits (permission slip from gov) to own and carry firearms were RIGHT.
And everyone who thinks "concealed carry permit" is a good thing is WRONG!
What your enemy does not know cannot be used against you.
Only a fool trusts his enemy. Especially with his privacy, his property, his safety, and his freedoms.
IMO, when government finally wins and guns are outlawed the American people will have gotten what they deserve.

Imagine, if you can, the hypocrisy of one who believes concealed carry law is good and keeps criminals in check but argues removal of military style rifles and hi-cap mags is bad and won't.
Perhaps he believes he will be allowed permission to continue to own these via a new set of 'laws'.
Whatever the case, this puts him in the exact same position as Feinstien with her CCP and other elites surrounded by armed guards pushing for another bite taken out of the 2A.

I want to point out that this stunt was by a Gannett newspaper, if anyone out there still subscribes to one. I cancelled mine years ago.

Either I have my 2nd Amendment right or I don't: there's NO grey area. I consider any state/federal laws that infringe upon my right to be null-and-void and I act accordingly. I value my hide and any politician who thinks I should have to jump through hoops to protect myself can go straight to hell.

A state by state thing. Oregon's concealed data is not available.
An no one needs a permit to own a handgun or long arm.

That's a good start for a criminal that's looking for a gun. That's because the anti gun people see gunowner's as criminals and that real criminals aren't until they are caught and convicted. Never mind what they do and have not been caught and convicted of.
