I am looking to purchase a night vision scope for hunting coyote at night. I am looking to mount on a Rem700 243. I can only afford a Gen 1. Anyone have any feedback or experience with the Yukon, ATN, or Armsight? They are all carry a $500 price tag. I just need to be able to see at most 100 yards. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I've never had one, but I saw Gen.1's for under $400.00. It seems many of the same scopes are being sold under different brand names. I would look for a brand with the best track record and/or warranty.

Optics planet has most feedback I could find and mostly on the ATN brands. For every 10 good experiences, you have one bad one. I also anticipate I should buy new so I can return and also carry a warranty.

ATN has bee around quit a while, and a ten to one good to bad ratio is pretty goon for this type of item. At this level, there are lot of first time buyers and many have unrealistic expectations base on what they've seen on TV or movie screen. My kid got a Gen.2 a while back, and was very impressed with it's performance. Even if it cost a little more, I'd buy from a seller with a "no hassle" return policy so if it doesn't meet your needs you can send it back.

Thanks for the advice. I have low expectations (hence 50 yards)and that may even be stretching it. I think I will stick with ATN.

I had a chance to play with an Armasight UNS type magnifier and it blows away the PVS-22's we had before I retired. I don't know what gen the tube was or what is available. I would NEVER buy a "night sight" that couldn't be used in the daytime. The only thing worth owning is a Universal type light magnifier that mounts IN FRONT of a day optic.
