I have a bunch of 110 Gr. round nose Hornady bullets that I would like to reload for 30 cal. plinkers! Has anybody loaded these down to 1500 fps.for small game loads? Maybe using Red dot or Unique powders? Any help or info or leads would be appreciated!! thanks

The Speer reloading manual usually has reduced loads listed for 30-06, 300 WM etc. But, I don't recall if they list bullets that light. It may be a place to start looking. Which 30cal cartridge are you loading for?

Yup,
The Speer #12 shows reduced 110 grain plinker loads for most of the .30 calibers using SR 4759.

There was a nice article in I think G&A about reduced loads. I can find the magazine at home if you need a reference. The author showed a bunch of low recoil loadings for even the long magnums that were all the way at 1700-2000 fps. For the mags (7 mm and others) he stuffed dacron wool over the powder to promote proper burn. He said if you go below 1500 fps you are risking sticking a bullet in the barrel.

I got some loads out of an old Lyman manual for some cast bullets in 30-06. I believe it was 14 gr of Unique for a 125 gr lead gas check at about 1900 fps. They were tolerably accurate at 100 yards, and blew the heads of rabbits and grouse pretty well up to about 25 yards. Also used some 4756 (I think). I liked the Unique better.
