In my mind the most important knife I have made to date, my 9 year old son's first hunting knive. We worked on the name together, he wanted to imply I was going to teach him everything I know about hunting. I scaled everything down to fit his hand well and serve me as a detail caping knife. Blade is crucible 154, 1/10" thick and a 2" cutting edge, handles are canvas micarta with stainless pins. Shealth is carbon fiber pattern kydex and with an attached ferro rod. As a side note I have never worked with ferro rods and ordered some raw stock and planned on using spare micarta from the handle so everything would match. Well I drilled out the micarta and glued the rod in and we decided to add some pins to match the knife. I was drilling slowly with little excitment and the metal shavings built up around the hole. I have a compressor on a foot control to blow shavings away as I work and my apprentice gave it a blast of air so he could see the drilling. Evidently the metal shavings were at a critical point and needed just a little more air for combustion. Suddenly there was an incredibly bright flash, enough to make you see little stars and I realized my hands were stinging, the ignited shavings when right through my gloves and into the skin. In my ignorance I had not idea such a little pile of shavings could produce that much energy. Oh well, lesson learned for all!!
Hunt hard, kill clean, waste nothing and offer no apologies.

That is a really nice looking set. I really like the size, and shape of that knife.

Nothing shabby about that set-up. Looks ready to make some memories. Good work.
