The side-panel stock is such a classic German form that it appeared on lots of firearms over the decades. The other common features of the same style are a short, schnabel-tipped forend with no checkering and a small, pancake-style cheeklpiece.
The rifle in the photo is a no-name custom 8x57 made between the World Wars. The stock didn't come off another rifle--or shotgun.
