I was looking to buy a Cooper Excaliber in either a 25-06 or a 7mm-08 with the cerakote, and was wondering if they are worth the 2500.00 they are asking for them?

The 7mm-08 would be. 1 pound lighter than the '06

I don't have any repeaters (yet), but I have 21 and 22 models that I am very fond of. Your original question of value is very subjective in nature, but I think it's fair to say that you don't come across many unhappy Cooper owners.

I believe Cooper is now making some stainless receivers, if that's of any interest. I can't swear that is accurate, so you'll want to check with someone to be sure.

$2500 seems high. I have an all stainless 54 in 7-08 on order with a custom serial number and custom stock color that is less than $2000.

I would agree that $2500.00 seems high. I have a Model 52 that wasn't near that a couple of years ago. A buddy just bought a 52 Jackson Hunter from 1st Stop and I am pretty sure it was $1695.00

I have had three Cooper rifles and liked them all. But sold them too.

As an example and for much less money you can buy a Remington 700 in the caliber you want. Then have it free floated, bed the action and maybe the action screws too, re-crown the barrel, and add a Timney Trigger. That rifle will be as light or lighter than the Excaliber and shoot just as well. The big thing is you will have a bunch of money, especially at a $2500 selling price, left in your pocket for ammo, scope, or chasing liquor and women.

You can have it Cerakoted on your own for MUCH less. I don't like their color but that's just me. The rifles however are FIRST rate.

Have a Cooper M52 in .280 Rem.. They are pricey but worth every bit of money. I only wish I could afford more. It is my go to rifle for everything from Pronghorn to Oryx. My only complaint, if I had to come up with one, would be the the detachable box magazine. I prefer a standard magazine with bottom floor plate. That would be the only change I would make to my rifle. I would like to own one of there new models in 7mm mag

I've had 5, and still have 3. I only sold the other two because I just could not bring myself to beat up their upgraded wood by hunting elk with them. They were replaced by two specialized stainless/synthetic customs, other wise I would have two more Coopers.

That's one of the nicest Cooper hunting rigs I've seen. She'd be veeeeery easy to fall in love with.

What caliber is that rifle? The magnums, model 56, are priced significantly above the standard long action, model 52. A good reason to opt for the .280 Improved, .338-06, or good 'ol 30-06.
Another consideration; What's the cost of that rifle vs a custom. IMO you are getting quality as good as, or better, than some custom rifles I've had built. I don't know if you can find a better rifle at the prices Cooper charges.

Thanks for the replies. The rifle I am looking at is like the one pictured above, except the color which is a olvie green, and is listed on gunbrokers from Cove Creek Outfitters.

Been studying Cooper rifles this afternoon. They are my hands-down favorite "factory" rifle. I gotta be careful though... too much of that kind of gun porn has led to more than one impulse buy!

From what I am seeing, that is a good price on a ceracoated rifle, it's in a color and chambering you like,,, it it were me I be putting in a bid over $2500. (refer to above statement).

Hendershots usually has a good selection of Coopers, and right now they have Excaliburs in 25-06, my favorite the .280 AI, another in 6mm and one in 7-08. You can buy them outright at $2195. I bought one in .17 HMR from them last summer and you couldn't ask for better people to deal with.

I still see a few Excaliburs and Jackson Hunters on the 'net at $1799, including a JH in .284 on gunsamerica for $1939.

They're out there, just depends on what you really want and how patient you are.

This is my 7-08. I love this little rifle and, to me, worth the money. Plus, it shoots great!

I've got a couple of more like this during load work up and scope adjustment. Thought I took a pic after final sight in but can't find it. It was a little larger group than this but still tight. Sorry for the large photos, but I don't know how to make em smaller.
