Is there something up here similar to a "POD"? Basically they drop off a container, you load, and they pick it up and deliver it to what ever state you want?

Can't help with a specific referral but yes. Lots of military guys do just that. One think to check is the firearms policy; I think most of those services specify "no firearms." One friend I know that did a move this way only had a few firearms, and either he or his dad flew them out.

Elim, I'm still asking myself that but with family and medical issues, sometimes you just gotta do it.
As for guns, I'm probably just gonna mail them to myself.

When we moved out we did a move with a commercial company, we packed everything and they loaded it and drove it. Saved a ton of money on the packing and you can find boxes and material on Craigslist.
