Was out in the garage tonight cleaning up from my last project and happened to look over at the wife's Tahoe and saw some silver/grey behind the back door on drivers side. Took a look and some douche bag pried off the *LT* emblems from both sides, but dug a little too deep on driver's side. Were there this afternoon when I went to the car wash so had to happen while I was in the grocery store after dark. Will it do me any good to spray a little clearcoat to seal it up before I replace them? I have emblem tape left over from when it happened to my Ford truck, but don't want moisture to get under them.

I guess that I have to ask, why would anyone do such a thing?

Send up a bat signal to Northern_dave. If the paint is scratched through to bare metal, you'll want to do something or it will rust eventually.

I wouldn't "spray" in this case. I'd dab the gouged spot with a small brush before installing the new emblems.

Something clever here.
