I would appreciate comments based on actual hunting experience regarding the effectiveness of Sierra 7MM GameKing BT bullets of 150 & 160 grains bullets when used on elk. I realize many Sierra bullets are considered "fragile". To narrow things a bit, I'm talking of muzzle velocities around 2,900-3,000 fps and normal hunting ranges up to 350 yards or so.

I have killed a few elk with the 160's, but prefer the 175's in the 7 mag. About all I can say is they worked.I'd sure not go to the 150's for elk.

lotech, over the years I have shot a bunch of stuff with Game Kings..especially the .30 165, nothing ever escaped..from coyotes to moose.. As far as the 7mm 160's, I used them in my 7mm Wea. on mule deer, antelope, coyotes, axis deer, elk, and moose..but only one elk and one moose..the elk was a broadside shot about 250 yards or abit more..the bullet hit though the lungs and exited..the blood trail was easily followed..I suppose the elk made it 100 yards, but it was down avery steep hill..The moose I shot facing me..it dropped but was on its feet instantly, when it turned broadside and stopped, I put one though the lungs..it dropped right there..I would be careful of trying to smash shoulders or make a raking shot ...otherwise they have performed very well..that said, I would select a either a partition or accubond for elk or moose under normal hunting conditions...

I've used both on whitetails, but have shot more with the 150, they won't make it far at all if you hit them with it. I always pushed mine at about 3050

I've used the 160's for Elk right in your MV range. I have had no pass troughs even at 50 ft. The bullets have been on the far side under the hide. But I did have to track one of them. Fifty feet! The bullets all mushroomed great and retained from 70 to 80% none of them had shed their jackets.

ive had good luck with game kings in about everything ive shot them in . i shoot 150s in my 308, and ive killed a pile of whitetails with them . i shoot the 160s in my 7 mag and the speer 160s boat tails which look like the exact same bullet to me . both the game kings and speers have done awesome jobs on deer . the deer that have run , i had to walk to the side of the blood trail so i wouldnt get blood on my boots . never had a deer make it past about 40 or 50 yds when they did run . most exit holes were about the size of a golf ball, some the size of my fist .
