Just talked to Alan at Wilderness again about the cost of a second hog. dvdegeorge had posted that some second hogs had only cost $250 last year.

Alan said he would do the same thing this year, but the hog had to be 100 lbs or less and of the spotted variety. He wants to get rid of these hogs. He also said the guides would tell us which were the $250 ones.

So it looks like we can shoot some second hogs, get some pretty good meat, for a cost of $250.

Great to see a lot of last year's gang is coming back. Kind of hard to imagine having a hog hunt there without them.

Am also looking forward to see who the new guys are, and meeting them. I think there is a pretty good tradition building up here.

And none of it would be possible without Rick.

Steve

George, it looks like your lever gun mangled up that hog worse than the .257 Wby pic that was posted earlier. wink

Wow, that is really ugly.

And the hog is not much better looking, but still better looking than the hunter, whoever he is.

But glad you will get the hogs you want. It's possible we may have too much fun.

Everyone going on the Hunt:

If you recall my son Stephen and I brought some shotguns and clay birds for some shooting on the range last year. Turned out we were the only people along with tjm10025 who brought shotguns. The lodge had a trapthrower and we all shared our shotguns and everyone had a great time. I'm hoping to do the same this year and will bring some clay birds. If some others brought some birds we can all have an extended blast. Bring some shotguns too.

Good call! I have several cases in the basement I'll set aside. Not that I'll actually shatter many..... grin

Nice, I was thinking of getting one of those myself. They seem to point really well.

Afternoon of friendly shotgunning was a good call, Ben. Will come prepared with a 20ga grouser affair. Bobby, you can borrow it if your shoulder is broken (again).

Also, a note to come loaded for bear on the pistol ammo front. Seems an impromptu shoot (think Tex was the instigator) turned into quite a show of arsenals, empty brass and smoke before it was over. (Note to self: bring downrange target stand/backers).

Golldammed motion detector lights. A guy can’t even piss off his porch in peace any more.

I'm trying to recall if you actually......yeah you did. That was before the recoil from that little rifle sidelined you!
