no wheel guns, please.
she wants a semi-auto, compact enough to fit in a purse or coat pocket.
.22 so she can shoot as much as she wants. i know, minimal defensive chambering. but hey, if it's something she will shoot often, and carry ...
suggestions?

Ruger SR22

Been hearing nothing but great things, comes with 2 magazines, and is real reasonable

Given that criteria, I would seek out an old Beretta Model 70 in .22lr. Theyre light weight, compact but not so compact that theres next to nothing to hold on to. They are utterly reliable, and very accurate. But theyre not cheap, nor are spare magazines. Well worth it if you want the best.

Don't look over the Bersa T22. Don't get me wrong, there are many day's I wish SR22's had been available when I bought Bersa but to be honest, it's not a bad gun. Mine's been 100& with MiniMags. For her purposes I'd have her handle both the Ruger and the Bersa and pick which one fits her best.

But a tie goes to the Ruger.......

The new Ruger 22/45 LITE semi auto might be a good one to look at, as well.
