What does every think about having a Rem 700 .473 bolt face opened to.532? IS worth the trouble and cost? Is there anyone that will do it?
I know what Redneck thinks about it but was wanting a few other opinions.

It depends, which bolt are you talking about?

With .532" actions being so common it doesn't make any sense. Especially since it's not just the bolt and extractor that needs to be opened, you need to work the feed rails and replace the magazine. By the time you've done that work, you've paid for a magnum action donor rifle.
If you just have to have a custom rifle built on a military mauser action, then that's the route you have to go. But if you're using a contemporary sporting rifle action, buy what you want out of the gate.

To open up from 473 to 532 and retain the Remington extractor is a fairly complex operation and one that not too many want to do. Buying a replacement bolt from PT&G is a good solution which doesn't cost much more. Besides, you can always go back the standard face if you want later on. GD

I know what Redneck thinks about it but was wanting a few other opinions. NOW that you went back and clarified which bolt you were referring to, I agree with GD and Lee, if Lee is of the same opinion that it isn't worth the trouble and expense with great replacement bolts available like those from PT&G. A PT&G replacement bolt would not be much different than having the 700 opened and an after market extractor fit.
