I've been out of work for almost a couple years now. Only been doing skilled/unskilled odd jobs to try keeping my family's heads above water.
I dream of making it back to Africa again someday...but have come to terms it probably ain't gonna happen.
Others here having the same problem?

I'm on the other end of this, going from 30-35 hunters a year to 12-15 is a devastating loss and makes the future very uncertain for Hunting Adventures!

In 2010, my business dropped by 50% from prior year. In 2011, it again dropped 50% from prior year. The future wasn't uncertain, it was certain.

I think the safari market (particularly RSA) is seeing a major consolidation/change. Even great offers are going unfilled this year. Times are tough all around.

I'm on "forced"leave at the moment. Once that's used up, and if work hasn't come in, I may be facing redundancy.
Whatever you said...everyone knows you are a lying jerk. That's a bold assertion. Point out where you think I lied. Well?

Glad I got to go twice. Don't see myself being able to go back. Health insurance is eating my wife and I alive.

I have to say business is only getting better on my side. This year is looking very good with still more to come. I'm way ahead of schedule with a bunch of deposits already paid for 2014.

Have been to Africa twice, would love a 3rd trip, but don't see it happening unless economy makes a big turn for the better. The downturn has hurt my business by 50% the last 3 years, and wife's career has been affected the same. Maybe one day I'll go back, if not can still enjoy the memories.

I feel very blessed that I have been able to make four trips. With the way the economy is and how my business is at this time I fear my boots will never touch the red soil of Africa again.

I was in that position in 2008 when the construction market crashed. I had picked the wrong time to leave a great company for an ownership stake in a private company to lead a turnaround effort. After about two months the majority owners decided they did not want to risk more funds in rebuilding the company and I was left in the cold with no job in one of the worst construction markets in US history. It took me about four years to recover financially.
