I'd volunteer to film that, but I'd start laughing, and then couldn't outrun either one of them...

Tex n Cal,

Yep, planning to bring the 416 Rigby as my primary trophy hog gitter. Anyone want to place a bet on whether a boar is going to stop a .416 350gr TTSX started at 2750fps or not? It doesn't weigh TOO much less than the 14lb SxS rifle that someone here was showing off with <G>

The hard decision is whether the next in line should be the VERY pretty 250/3000, My old favorite 340 Tyrannosaur aka "the death star", my 10mm Delta Elite, my longbow, an Assegai Spear, the Len Brownell 7mm Mashburn with signature of his work tapered and integral rib octagon barrel, or maybe even my yet to get bloodied somewhat customized and tricked out Lyman Great Plains hunter 54. If I was to bring all seven extra weapons and kill a pig with each the trophy fees would be more than the rest of the trip is costing me! I COULD bring 'em all and then hunt with whatever one is calling my name at any moment, and let others shoot or even hunt with any avaialble. Even the semi famous 416 Rigby is avaialble to be borrowed by one of you if you wanted to pack it and try it out on game. I will try to load up some more ammo for it so any who wish to can pop off a round or three.

What say ya'll? If you had this spread of weapons to bring and hunt with, what would YOU bring? I think I can come up with the money to shoot two or three extra porkers, but not seven.

Edited to add, then there is also the Brno ZKW465 22 K-Hornet that could digest some light Barnes TSX's.... sigh

Sounds like a Delta Elite VS Glock 20SF side by side comparison and shoot out is in the making! I will need to find a surrogate shooter for mine though, beecause I am not a great pistol shot.

You gonna feed that thing some Underwood hot rod loads? Buffalo Bore? Neutered factory fodder? Roll your own? If you roll your own, AA #9 totally rocks in top end 10mm loads. Easy to replicate original Norma/Dornaeus and Dixon or Buffalo Bore level velocites with that one using the heavier bullets. Trying to get there with AA # 7 or many (most?) other powders will have you diggin separated case shrapnel out of your gun and such. Don't ask me how I know....

Congrats, I would be curious to see how it feels.

edit to add, I have a Kimber 10mm 1911. They use a ramped barrel, and has extra case support, if someone wants to get adventurous, they're welcome to try it.

Oh yeah, CONGRATULATIONS to Rockchuker on the find. I am curious to handle it as well! I have only owned the Gen 1 Glock 10mm's so far, and only three of them ever. I am certain that this one is WAY nicer in many respects and features.

Last year I took 3 rifles, all modern; on a rainy day I took the stainless & synthetic Montana 7mm-08 out, and blooded it. I'll probably take three old ones this year, but use the AR-10 if it rains again. The AR in .300 Blackout is easier to carry, but I'm not sure I want to use that caliber on a big boar, even with a TTSX.

This week I should get my hands on one of those rare Lyman 54 sights, for the Savage M1920 bolt action, which will let me yank off the scope and use it as the rifle was designed. The .300 Savage oughta work, too. smile

I'll try for a big boar first, but settle for a meat pig or two, the last day. I ain't chucking no spears, nor sticking unwounded pigs with knives, but I might pop one with the Walker grin

Yeh, the Savage 1920's are sweet rifles X 10. I have seen and handled a couple and they just look and feel 'right'. I can dig on a lightweight rifle that looks and feels like that.

Check with Buds gunshop in Lexington, KY. If they don't have one, try Whitakers in Owensboro.

Both of them have web pages.

**Disregard that, I see you found one.
Congratulations.

Not according to my chronograph it doesn't. Not that it wouldn't likely work, but it is not up to the standards of speed and power that the big ten was originally loaded to and designed to run at. If Underwood or Buffalo Bore is not avaialble you should look hard at making up your own fodder. Of course, at the upcoming hunt there could be another member or two with some extra 10mm ammo on hand with a little jabanero in it <G>
