Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Sequel To Start Production In May

Watch Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters Online Remember that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel that you never asked for and probably never heard of before I mentioned it at the beginning of this sentence? Well, it's going into production in May. Deadline has learned that The Weinstein Company has been quietly developing a follow-up to Ang Lee's Oscar-winning wuxia film and are now just a few months away from starting to roll cameras. John Fusco, whose previous titles include Hidalgo and The Forbidden Kingdom, has written the script while Bride of Chucky/Freddy vs. Jason director Ronny Yu is in talks to helm the picture. Ang Lee is not involved, though the writer is confident that they will be bringing back renowned fight choreographer Wo Ping Yuen.

Watch Breaking Dawn Part 2 Online The story is said to be based on the same Crane-Iron Pentalogy by Wang Du Lu from which Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was born, only they will be skipping around the numbers a little bit. The new movie will be based on the story Silver Vase, Iron Knight, which is the fifth and final book in the series. Fusco told the site, "This was an opportunity to explore a lifelong passion Ive had for Wu Sia [sic], and if there wasnt continuing source material, I would never have gotten involved." I honestly think he's the perfect person for the job ... and I'm Captain Cynical!!

Watch Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters Online As for the cast, the report says that while the film's plot revolves around Yu Shu Lien, the character played by Michelle Yeoh in the first movie, the original actors are not guaranteed to return. However, the door is open and the site says, "some likely will." There is no release date at this time, but should production start in May you can probably expect the film to be released sometime in 2014. With films to his credit like The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Be Kind Rewind and The Science of Sleep, Michel Gondry is considered by many to be among the most imaginative and whimsical of contemporary filmmakers. And while his take on the superhero genre, 2010's Green Hornet, was not well-received, he is back to his old and much beloved tricks with his upcoming romance Mood Indigo.

Watch Parker Online Based on Boris Vian's novel L Ecume des jours, Gondry's latest focuses on an unconventional love story. Amelie's Audrey Tautou co-stars with Romain Duris of L'Auberge Espagnole, playing Chloe and Nicholas, a pair of lovers whose happily ever after is threatened when Chloe sprouts a deadly water lily in her lungs. We got a sneak peek of the film last summer, when a string of production stills were released. Now, you can see the film's French trailer below, thanks to Vulture:

Watch The Hobbit Online As you can see in the clip above, there will be plenty to marvel in Mood Indigo, from surreal office spaces to high-flying amusement park rides, and an underwater marriage ceremony complete with glass limo! Even though the trailer above gives no clue to the plot, it shows tons of whimsy and heart amid vibrant colors and awe-striking visuals. Plus, it not only boasts Tautou and Duris, but also Gad Elmaleh (Priceless, The Valet), and Omar Sy (The Intouchables, Micmacs). In short, this one is sure to be an art house hit here in the States. Now we just have to wait on a release date.

Mood Indigo opens in France on April 24th. A U.S. release is expected to follow later this year. Were going through a phase lately where A-list actors and directors are signing up for unlimited projects, leading to what looks like potential logjams of scheduling conflicts. The latest talent to overbook is Reese Witherspoon, whose name has been attached to several upcoming features and just has been attached to one more. The Legally Blonde beauty reportedly is in talks to star in The Good Lie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The based-on-true-events story follows a young refugee of the Sudanese Civil War who wins a lottery and is transferred to the United States. A brash American woman (played by Witherspoon) helps the young man deal with his overwhelming culture shock, as well as the crippling guilt he suddenly feels about leaving his brother behind in their war-torn homeland. I think we're allowed to get excited by this. I think Abrams has the talent to juggle as many franchises as Hollywood's willing to give him. And while I do not want to see him get stuck in a galaxy far, far away for the rest of his career, I think he can do one SW film, get the new trilogy off on the right foot, and then hand it off to another stellar director. The Wrap says Ben Affleck almost got the gig. Lock him up for the sequel right now, and I just might die of joy. Absolute, unfiltered joy. Katey: I will stick with your joy and put my skepticism aside for now, because you know what? Your way is much more fun. Once news broke that Zack Snyder reportedly was prepping a standalone Star Wars film, the Internet did what the Internet does, which is cleverly (and snarkily) lampooning the idea. So while Snyders reps have come out and thrown cold water on the rumors, its still fun to share one of the ideas that a YouTube user cooked up namely, putting lightsabers in the hands of Gerard Butler and the Spartan warriors of 300: This is so stupid to say, but seeing that clip actually helped me get excited about possibly seeing a one-off Jedi movie set in a different genre, be it a Western (like the rumored adaptation of Seven Samurai) or an ensemble war movie like 300 -- only with lightsabers. We discussed, at length, whether Snyder was a good fit for the expanding Star Wars world, and it sounds like were going to get multiple films in addition to the new trilogy thats supposed to start with Episode VII you know, if LucasFilm can ever settle on a director to kick start the fresh series.

So what do you think? Is Snyder participating in a little misdirection so that he can announce his intentions for The Magnificent Seven with Jedi on his own terms? Did Vulture gets its facts so completely wrong when it broke the Snyder for Star Wars story? Or will a different director be brought into the fold for a future Star Wars movie? Stay tuned.
