I go along with that. But most the time at home, I just flip on a light switch.[/quote]

Yeah but are your light switches tactical?

OK, that's the clarification I was looking for. Thanks.

I don't separate "offense" and "defense" in that manner. To my mind, offense = assault. So basically, any encounter in which I'm required to use my firearm in a civilized nation is going to be "defensive" in nature.

Just a difference in terminology. No biggie.

Surefire Fury with 500 lumens.I paid $150 when they first came out but if you look around their selling for around $100 now . It does eat batteries .

Fenix PD 31 has 3 light levels , good battery life. Its smaller and fits in a pocket nicely.

Check out the Malkoff drop ins for the older Surefire P and C series lights. These are bulletproof and have excellent brightness/run times.

A surefire 6P with a Malkoff drop in would be hard to beat for a tough/reliable single output light.

I have several.

I have been carrying a Mag-Lite LED XL-200 for about a year now and I really like it.
200+ lumens from 3 AAA batteries.
Way more features than I would ever need or use but, the ones I like (high beam, strobe) are easy to access.
Less expensive than many others yet, still very rugged.

A light (non-weapon-mounted) is something I consider an absolute necessity for anyone carrying a firearm.

I have been researching Fenix flashlights. They seem like good flashlights at a fair price. Does anybody have any experience with them? They use 2 different bulbs, a Cree XP-E LED and a Cree XP-G LED. Can anybody tell me the difference? With flashlight technology changing constantly, it is hard to keep up with the changes.

Thanks

How about it. Does anybody have anything to say about Fenix flashlights or the difference between Cree XP-E and Cree XPG LEDs?

Thanks

Some of the guys I work with bought Fenix lights and really like them. Most of them attached them to AR-15's. I have no idea what model they are.

A friend has a couple of those, he loves 'em. Malkoff drove Surefire back to the drawing board.
