Any insight in getting a stuck (flush with bolt face) ejector out of Remington 700.

Take a small punch or other tool and push it in a couple of times. It is not uncommon for a small sliver of brass to get wedged in the ejector hole and jam it, I've had that happen three or four times. Working the ejector usually works out whatever is jamming it.

If that does not work (though it should)you will need to drive out the cross pin that holds the ejector plunger in place. Be careful to keep control of the plunger and not launch it into an alternate reality.

Those slivers of brass are usually the result of trying to squeeze out that last drop of velocity... Bad plan...

I use the bread bag method. Drive the pin out with the end of the bolt in a clear plastic bag to limit the plunger's options when it takes flight.

First thing you do is place the bolt face-down in about an inch of Kroil or similar and let it soak overnight.. Then try to tap it with a loosely-held punch. If done that way you may notice that it begins to bounce back. That's what you're to be looking for..

Then remove the retaining pin WHILE HOLDING YOUR FINGER/THUMB over the ejector in case it does spring free..

If it's truly stuck/jammed in and will NOT come loose, it's a trip to the gunsmith to have it removed..

I used Kroil on a Winchester M70 extractor plunger awhile back
worked quickly. You would be surprised at the amount of debris
that finds its way under ejectors, extractors, plungers, etc.

Yes - and the Rem ejectors rarely get attention, cleaning-wise, until and unless something takes a dump.. It's THE most neglected item on a M700..

I'd take it out for a good flush for good measure anyway.

Hot loads or brass in bad need of a shoulder bump can make things interesting.

Nah, more like a close 2nd to THE most neglected part, the
trigger.

I know, what does this image have to do with the subject right???

Well, that little bit of light at about 1 O'clock from dead center is coming through a little hole located at the bottom edge of the elector hole.

I'd have to disagree. I've not met a M700 owner yet who has, on occasion, removed the ejector for maintenance.. But I've met a ton of M700 owners who fool around with the trigger..

And that's one of the main reason they eventually find their way to my shop..

here's what works for me: soak stuck ejector face up with kroil overnight. Remove ejector pin carefully. If ejector is still stuck RESIST THE URGE to tap it further in! Get your electric marking pencil. PUT ON YOUR SAFETY GLASSES. turn marking pencil on and press against stuck ejector. usually the ejector comes out a short time later due to the vibration - watch out for a sudden release of the ejector! if the ejector spring or part of the spring is still stuck, use an electric drll with a small drill bit and usually the spring will wrap it self around the drill bit and come out of the hole. any problems? soak longer with kroil. good luck! Got it soaked in shotgun crud remover with the cross pin out. Then bounced off the wood bench like a kinetic pull puller . It finally moved a bit bounced again was able to get it with a pair of bent nose needle nose pliers. Flushed the hole and checked for clearance and reassembled. Works fine now
