I am looking for a young guy that is wanting to get into the outfitting industry. Ideally he would be 18-24 years old and already has some outdoor abilities.

I would need this person to come to Alaska with me the end of May to work at my fishing lodge. He would: cook, clean, sweep, clean fish, paint, fix boat motors, entertain clients, change light bulbs, mow grass, be an assistant to the fishing guides, go on bear viewing trips, guide bear viewing trips, wash dishes, change oil in vehicles, wash cars, etc.

If he proved himself throughout fishing season, he would then go to the Brooks Range with me in August to help out on caribou and grizzly bear hunts. He would: cook, clean, sweep, bone out meat, paint, fix tents, entertain clients, change light bulbs, be an assistant to the hunting guide, go to spike camps with guides/hunters to help spot game, pack meat, wash dishes, skin and flesh hides, etc.

If he works out for the Brooks Range he would then help out with moose hunt in September and then brown bear hunt in October on the peninsula doing all of the things mentioned above.

Then if all this worked out and he was still wanting to be in this industry, I would arrange for him to be able to get his assistant guides license for hunting and get his sport fishing guides license and give him a job each year.

If you know anyone that fits this description, please let me know.

Let's see...80hr week X 52weeks=4160hours x $10.00 an hour=$41,600. I believe I'd just pay for the license and forego all of the free labor. Sounds a litttle like slavery to me. powdr

LOL grin

Sounds interesting. I have all that and I know the environment and species of the areas your describing. Just don't meet your age range. Been to Katmai and lived in King Salmon back some years ago. Very Familiar with the area. Got most your credentials. Avid outdoorman over 20 years.

Naknek, Bristol Bay, Egegik, Lake Iliamna ETC.

And then there is the benefits and opportunity costs that surround this position as noted?
Ping me if you can provide more information surrounding the above.

I know a young guy that might be interested in this offer.

Does it include room&board?
Any pay for spending money?
Any health insurance if something major goes wrong?
