I bought some to try in my ppc, but wasn't that wild about it in that cartridge. I tried it in my 22-250, and it shot pretty well, got good velocity, and burned clean. I'd compare it to a 4895. Deuce, ppc, and other little cartridges stuffed full of it seem to like it pretty well, just couldn't see that it was any better than N133.

Has anyone used the IMR 8208 powder for 204..223..22-250? Clean? Groupings? In the beginning IMR was going to duplicate the original 8208 to make benchrest shooters happy to compete with VVN133. they got sidetracked in the process and realized they could make more money selling to the military. this powder is a slower burn rate than the original 8208 or VVN133. It is still a very useful powder and much cleaner burning than ogiginal8208 or VVN133.

It worked well in my 1-10" 6PPC with 85 gr. Sierra BTHPs, wound them up to 2825 fps with great accuracy. Other than that I haven't found much use for it, but I haven't tried it in much else.

It's excellent in my 270 Winchester. I've tried it in 30/06, 22-250 and 223 and got better results with other powders. It does meter better than any other powder I've ever tried.

8208 is simply an awesome powder. My 6x45s and 223 get a healthy diet of it. Going to try some in my 243 win as well.

I noticed that to get nearly the same velocity as other powders you use anywhere from .5 to 1.5 grains less when using 8208. I am up here in central Minnesota...forecasted lows around -8 to -16 the next few days...so I noticed they advertize temperature doesn't affect this powder. I will be trying it for P'dogs in the summer heat as well. So far my 243 win likes 4064 with Sierra 85gr hp. Will need to try some 8208 in the 243 as well. Keep the info coming guys...I really appreciate it!

It works fine in my .223 Remington, and works very well in my son's .338 Federal. A very nice powder. I need to experiment a little more with it in the .243 Win with 70 gr bullets, and the .223 as well. Could become my "go to powder" for everything except the 6.5x55, the .270WSM and the heavy bullet .243 Win loads. (They currently get Accurate Data 86 Extruded, a non-canister version of 3100 that Accurate offered briefly years ago. The price was right and it works well in cartridges that like H-4831, Reloder 19 and 22, and IMR or H 4350.)

How does it compare to Varget for burn rate and velocities? I believe it is a little quicker burning than Varget, IMR-4064 and IMR-4895. Just a bit quicker than H-4895, but slower than H-322 or Accurate 2015. Hodgdon's burn rate chart puts it between Accurate 2460 and Ramshot TAC. http://www.hodgdon.com/burn-rate.html

I saw one user speculate that 8208 is just an IMR branding of H Benchmark.
Any thoughts on that?
