So, then folks would just have to have contests to wound and disable those critters?? That's a bigger challenge.

Do you have any legislators that are pro hunting? How's the G&F feel about this legislation? Someone needs to post the contact info for the Governor and legislators, get an email campaign going now. Do you have any critter orgs that can publicly stand against, deer, elk, antelope orgs should really hammer the legislature, as this effects their critters substantially.

In Az we've started a watchdog group for just these legislative issues along with others. Had a meeting last night with G&F.

I will forward the bill info to a friend that's regional director (Az,NM, Nv) for Mule deer foundation, if he hasn't already seen it he will be interested.

Looks like fishing tourneys are fine by these dudes.
No matter if a few fish suffocate like a .....fish.....out.....of........water.
Have a few eyes snagged by sharp hooks.
Separating fish from their school mates.

Yep,fish are the equal of humans.
Anyone know if these bottom feeders have bass boats parked next to their garages or are life members of Trout Unlimited or BASS.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

If NM is like AZ... you have to really watch the 'Striker' bills... that's how much of the unpopular bills are snuck through.

We have guys checking the 300 plus bills in process every day.

Represntatives like Candy Ezell and Nora Espinosa will certainly fight this.

They fight the good fight for us.

Just returned from a meeting tonight with some of my collaborators just back from Santa Fe. They say that it doesn't have much of a chance. It will die quietly.

Lisa Jennings, the Executive Director of Animal Protect Voter said, These contests are unethical and offend our communitys sense of common decency. They send a dangerous message to our children that life is cheap in New Mexico and that senseless killing is cause for celebration. The Animal Protection Voters are working to raise awareness about HB 316 and educate the public about the dangers to public safety and New Mexicos environment that result from animal killing contest.

Rep. Cot said, The recent publicity about a large number of coyotes being killed for a prize has rightfully caused a public outcry against these killing contests. These competitions appear to be another example of our cultures fascination with violence that is not being discussed. These horrifying killing contests for a prize must stop.

HB 316 has been referred to the House Judiciary committee for review.
