I currently have a Glock Model 20, 10mm pistol that I really enjoy shooting. I believe it is a second-generation model.

If I want to shoot other calibers using this Model 20 frame, what are my choices? I would like to shoot .45 acp, but it's my understanding the hole in the slide for the barrel is too small, and I would need to replace the slide in addition to the barrel and the magazine.

If this is correct, then buying a complete Model 21 in .45 acp would probably be a better choice.

I have an after-market six-inch hunting barrel for the 10mm
that I use to fire my handloads.

Any thoughts from fellow Glockers?

You can switch it to a .40 S&W or .357 Sig with a different barrel. Several companies make a drop in barrel for the switch. I "think" you can use the same G20 mags for both of those rounds, but you'll need to double check on that.

For the 45 I think you'd have to get a slide...maybe someone else can give you more info on that one...

You can shoot .40, .357 sig and 9x25 dillon with the switch of a barrel. If you want to shoot .45, you'll probably just want to get another glock. Nothing wrong with that!

To convert the g20 to 45 acp you would need a new slide with barrel and a magazine. This would cover the extractor but the ejector, which is frame mounted, would remain the same. It would most likely work fine in that configuration although its up to you if you would want to bet your life on it.

If you plan on using it for home defense then arfdog875 has it right...just get a new one.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
