Hey, guys I haven't been around the fire much over the last year life just got too busy for more then the occasional visit but I have managed to check in every few months to see everyone's new bang sticks and critter kills.
Anyways I wanted to show off how my season went since it ended last night. It was slow for me I didn't have the usual access to the ranch I hunt in GA, I could have but I didn't feel right calling up he owner out of the blue just to ask for permission when we used to be very close and work together almost daily before. So I hunted the whole season on a lease here in AL that a friend manages and lets me hunt, it's good land with some big deer but very highly poached in the off season (neighbors) and highly pressured during season so if you want deer you gotta hunt for them. I missed my chance for a big mature buck lady Friday but other than that it was hogs, does and small bucks. I did get some meat in the freezer though, shot a 100# & 80# doe, plus I shot a 100# sow last night. I was proud of last night's kill the most, i shot the sow in the last minute of light, at 80 yards, off hand, with 40# of climber and gear on my back, after hiking up hill out of the woods. I hit her right behind the ear with a 120gr fusion from a 7mm-08 total jelly head.
Here's a quick photo I put together while playing on the iPad this afternoon. Enjoy and keep me a place around the fire for when I can visit.
