According to documents from a court of appeals hearing in October 2011, Dorner was fired from the LAPD after he made a complaint against his field training officer, Sgt. Teresa Evans. Dorner said that in the course of an arrest, Evans kicked suspect Christopher Gettler, a schizophrenic with severe dementia.
Following an investigation, Dorner was fired for making false statements.
Richard Gettler, the schizophrenic man's father, gave testimony that supported Dorner's claim. After his son was returned on July 28, 2007, Richard Gettler asked "if he had been in a fight because his face was puffy" and his son responded that he was kicked twice in the chest by a police officer. Sounds like he was fired to protect his superior's job, i.e., he was railroaded. Typical police corruption sort of thing. Of course it MUST be corruption in your addle minded twisted brain, right? This guy was bad news, and he was weeded out during his probationary phase. Who do you seriously think was right, Hawk? Two different field training officers who said this guy was a POS, or a guy that goes out and murders an innocent woman to punish her father who DEFENDED him in a hearing, but lost? This guy sounds an awful lot like you....couldn't cut it as a cop, weeded out during the selection process or probation process, and forever blames other cops for his failing.
Guns are responsible for killing as much as Rosie O'Donnel's fork is responsible for her being FAT.

He is a bad apple in a big barrel of good ones, PERIOD. There is NO "typical police corruption". That is a myth of the conspiracy theorist IMHO. I know way to many good cops as well as good teachers, EMS workers and Firefighters Etc. Even a few lawyers!  The broad brush does discredit to the good and those that paint with it Hawk. Sorry Terry. I can't help myself.  Seriously, though, positions of power do tend to accumulate corrupt individuals. The more powerful the position, the more likely the corrupt will be favored. It's almost a mathematical certainty.

The first incident happened about 5:30 a.m. in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue. It involved Los Angeles police detectives from the Hollywood division.
Two women delivering newspapers were struck by gunfire. They were taken to area hospitals, Torrance police said.

I never knew anybody who could see so far into the past or the future, just by reading one news article. I read the news article within the context of an understanding of human nature in relation to positions of power. It's a very old story. Goes back into ancient history and before.

Saw a link saying LAPD has gunned down two innocents so far in the search for the shooter.
Oops. Officer safety, and all. That's all that counts. So long as they make it home at the end of their shifts, right?

What do they say about how many gunfights in law enforcement with many rounds fired and no targets hit?.....grin

I know your TTP�s, (techniques, tactics, and procedures). Any threat assessments you you generate will be useless. This is simple, I know your TTP�s and PPR�s. I will mitigate any of your attempts at preservation. ORM is my friend. I will mitigate all risks, threats and hazards. I assure you that Incident Command Posts will be target rich environments. KMA-367 license plate frames are great target indicators and make target selection even easier.
I will conduct DA operations to destroy, exploit and seize designated targets. If unsuccessful or unable to meet objectives in these initial small scale offensive actions, I will reassess my BDA and re-attack until objectives are met. I have nothing to lose. My personal casualty means nothing. Just alike AAF�s, ACM�s, and AIF�s, you can not prevail against an enemy combatant who has no fear of death. An enemy who embraces death is a lose, lose situation for their enemy combatants.
Hopefully you analyst have done your homework. You are aware that I have always been the top shot, highest score, an expert in rifle qualifications in every unit I�ve been in. I will utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordnance, and survival training I�ve been given.

It says they don't get enough firearms training. Training curriculum has changed because the genius leaders believe that recruits/cadets will need to be more fluent with a stinking computer than they are with a firearm.
Firearms training costs have skyrocketed due to ammunition costs and the unavailability of agency owned firing ranges. FATS machines are underutilized and decision based training is lacking.
All that adds up to costly mistakes being made by computer savvy non-shooters.

I all boils down to there is bad apples in this world....what ever profession you look Doctors, Lawyers, firemen, teachers, nurses, politician, clergymen, any and all professions have bad apples. The media just loves it when a LE officer [bleep] up or goes postal....no profession is exempt from bad people!!!!!
